  1. NEW SYNC 3.0 Build 20204 Nav Android Auto/Apple Carplay

This is to ensure that the upgrade can take place and complete without the car shutting down the Sync system part way through! If you turn the engine off and leave the audio running, then it will instantly turn off when you open a door - or after approx 15 mins... both actions will interrupt...
  2. NEW SYNC 3.0 Build 20204 Nav Android Auto/Apple Carplay

My understanding is that Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are *possibly* more responsive/reliable - really hard to know if you can tell the difference, I am fairly sure you wont see any other differences at all. Display otherwise looks identical to me.
  3. NEW SYNC 3.0 Build 20204 Nav Android Auto/Apple Carplay

Do you mean the update time from the USB being inserted? This is very approximately 15 mins, and it varies due to the speed of your USB drive... an old slow USB drive will make this a much longer process than a modern fast one. Some USB's have a flashing light on them to indicate activity...
  4. NEW SYNC 3.0 Build 20204 Nav Android Auto/Apple Carplay

It depends on how long it takes for the Sync3 system to copy the files off of the USB, as it is only after the copy has taken place that you get to see any messages that it is doing anything. As a rough guide, note how long it takes to copy the files onto the USB from your computer - and then...
  5. NEW SYNC 3.0 Build 20204 Nav Android Auto/Apple Carplay

Did you extract the downloaded software file onto an empty USB? This is the most common cause for problems. When you view the USB contents, you should see only two files, called autoinstall.lst and dontindx.msa and one directory called SyncMyRide which contains the GZ file(s). If you see a...
  6. NEW SYNC 3.0 Build 20204 Nav Android Auto/Apple Carplay

It helps if you have a USB drive that has a built-in activity light, as you could then be seeing it flashing away to show its busy working. If all is going to plan, then it will be busy copying the install files off of your USB and into the system - and when the copying is fully complete - then...
  7. NEW SYNC 3.0 Build 20204 Nav Android Auto/Apple Carplay

You need to connect an Android Auto device to Sync3 for the menu option to appear - and if you have troubles with that working, try a different cable.
  8. NEW SYNC 3.0 Build 20204 Nav Android Auto/Apple Carplay

Build 18093 was available from mid May, and is the one that I use. I haven't come across any news on a later one, but haven't been looking.
  9. NEW SYNC 3.0 Build 20204 Nav Android Auto/Apple Carplay

It could also be because they want people to be using a newer spec USB, which runs many times faster than old USB's do... since the Sync3 upgrade only tells you that "upgrade is in progress" *after* having copied all the files across, and with an old USB this can take around 20 mins - during...
  10. NEW SYNC 3.0 Build 20204 Nav Android Auto/Apple Carplay

Yes, your problem is easily solved. You haven't created a folder called SyncMyRide and copied all of the .GZ files into it. If you look closely at the autoinstall file, it has a list of the files and the directory that they are in... but on your USB they are not in that directory name.
  11. NEW SYNC 3.0 Build 20204 Nav Android Auto/Apple Carplay

Factory reset is not usually required, I have never needed to do it - but it is the first thing to do if things are not working as expected! :)

  13. NEW SYNC 3.0 Build 20204 Nav Android Auto/Apple Carplay

In my experience, and I mostly use Android Auto - it is now rock solid, noticeably faster performance and I have not had Android Auto fail on me a single time since this install either - and I have been using it for nearly a week now. Previously I would sometimes have to disconnect /reconnect...

  16. NEW SYNC 3.0 Build 20204 Nav Android Auto/Apple Carplay

I have been running build 18093 for the past few days, and am finding it to be brilliant with Android Auto - it certainly seems to respond faster and Android Auto runs really well, starts quicker and I haven't needed to unplug/replug the phone in to correct where Android Auto hasn't launched...
  17. NEW SYNC 3.0 Build 20204 Nav Android Auto/Apple Carplay

If you are using an old/slow USB - then you could be waiting 10 or 15 minutes before you get any notification that the upgrade is happening. If your USB has a activity light built into it, then watch to see if it is flashing. Sync will copy the upgrade files from the USB into itself, which can...
  18. NEW SYNC 3.0 Build 20204 Nav Android Auto/Apple Carplay

Just to correct you a tiny bit... you don't need to have Waze running on your Android mobile - but it does need to be installed, and configured with your favourites and preferences. When you run Android Auto - it is able to call up Waze as a map option, which is run through your mobile phone -...
