Why didn't you just remove the bolts on the STB and swing it out of the way? That's what I did and there was plenty of room to reach down to the hole. Took a little silicone grease and lubricated the plug so it slipped right in!

I agree - the cover is one of the better ones that I have ever seen. FYI, here is a pic of mine with a Coyote badge. Just carefully pried up the original 5.0 badge and cleaned the old glue with laquer thinner.

A grinding wheel will work as well. It will cut a rectangular notch into the cover. Just mark where you want the notch and then hold the edge of the cover up to the wheel.
