Concern - vibration at ~5-70MPH
Cause - rear axle assembly does not operate properly, has extreme vibration issue.
Correction - road force balance, driveshaft swap, balance driveshaft, R & R rear half shafts, road test.
Replace rear axle assembly...
Just picked mine up. This is the receipt:
TIRE ROAD FORCE BALANCE, DRIVESHAFT SWAP, CHECK DRIVESHAFT RUN-OUT, BALANCE DRIVESHAFT, R AND R REAR HALF SHAFTS, REMOVE REAR AXLE TO INSPECT INTERNAL COMPONENTS, REINSTALL ALL COMPONENTS AND ROAD TEST, REPLACE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY. ROAD TEST TO VERIFY...
6'6" 205lbs. Longer legs than torso. Leg room is great even with 3 pedals. Shoe/foot clearance is OK for my size 14 (US) though easier in some shoes than others. Head room is OK, I might struggle to get a helmet in, but I sit fairly upright. Not much room behind me!
Yep. At this point the dealer has had the car almost as long as I did before taking it in. Frustrating for sure. But the vibration is severe enough that I can't live with it. I figure TSBs are an unfortunate side effect of a performance car. It's just that when you have a luxury performance...
My new '16 base GT PP MT is currently at the dealer for this. They say the driveshaft is balanced and indexed. Waiting on a new rear diff. Will update once I get the car back.
