Thanks Don,. I generally just put it on before I go away for trickle/maintenance charging. If the battery is ever discharged to some degree I'll connect it to the battery first, thanks for the advice.

I do pretty much what FMGTV8 (Don) does. I go away for work for up to 10-15 days at a time sometime so something like this is essential. Great smart chargers and cheap. Through the OBDII connector I don't open the hood.

Drewbo, with that last failure you documented do you know the build date of the car, if not could you find out. We know the Ford TSB states that build dates before 26 July 16 may be affected however we know they are failing after that date and if this is the case here its just more information...
