No problem. Remember, you should get an "Audio Spectrum Analyzer" app and use it while driving at the speed when the sound or vibration is MOST noticeable. For me, I heard a deep rumble which was at it's worst at 68 mph. The sound that my iPad could hear above any other sound was a 48Hz sound...
Read these two posts. I solved my vibration in my own driveway in an afternoon.
First get the app to see if your vibration is at a frequency that could be explained by a driveshaft imbalance. ( I think the app was $5 or $6 at the time)

Have a look at my posts on pages 118 and 119 of this thread. My vibration was typical of what is being complained about on this forum. It was measured at 48 Hz (by me) and was a driveshaft (driveline) imbalance. 400 Hz is a different animal altogether. I am not sure what would be turning at that...
As a side note, I just completed my first real highway "road-trip" after three years of ownership. 2100 km in the mountains in Western Canada. Best tank was 8.0 L/100km and worst tank was 8.8 L/100km (29.4 - 26.7 MPG US) I was very impressed. I don't normally get this good fuel economy, as I am...
Did you use one hose clamp or two? One hose clamp may in fact be too much weight. By adding a second hose clamp, they can be spread apart to effectively cancel (balance) each other out. If the two hose clamps are 180 degrees apart, it is like having no hose clamps at all. If they were say 170...
See posts 1767 to 1773. I balanced my driveshaft myself at home over 2 years ago. No problems since. Totally happy. I thought I would try fixing it myself before letting the dealer try. Long story short, the dealer has never had to look at it.

Not the same problem
With the 50-70 Mph vibration, it will happen in any gear at any RPM, as long as the vehicle is at the "vibrating speed". (resonant frequency) For me it was 68Mph and I could be coasting, neutral, accelerating, 4th gear, 5th gear, 6th gear. No change. If the DS is not...
Hmmm
I am not an expert on this, but I would really wonder what made the carrier bearing have the excessive runout. Was it this way from the start. (unlikely) Or, was there something else that was out of balance (like the DS) which wore out the carrier bearing? If you think there is still a...
DS speed calculation
You need to know your tire "Revolutions Per Mile". More or less the same for all factory S550 Mustangs, it shouldn't matter if you are running 18, 19 or 20" wheels) All of the factory sizes are within 1% or so.
For example I Googled the Revolutions Per Mile of a...
Sound app
The app I used was a sound analyzer, not a vibration analyzer. I did the math ahead of time to figure out how fast my propeller shaft (DS) would be turning at various vehicle speeds. So when I saw the same result pop up in the sound analyzer, it gave me enough confidence to proceed...
Sound Analyzer
Have a look at my posts on pages 118 and 119. I used a $5 app that I found for my iPad, and found a significant "boom" of 48Hz. The math worked out to the propeller shaft at that speed.

Hey John
Interesting find! Glad you are smooth again without the clamps. Do you think there are any other variables that might have changed the situation? I presume you put the driveshaft back to it's original position etc.? It's been a while since I have been under mine. Do you need to remove...
Cobra_Jet, I can feel your pain! I read your post yesterday but I was too speechless to even reply.
Now after a quick scan of the post again, am I reading correctly that the final "fix" that was done is a hose clamp balance on the rear section of the DS?
That is the same procedure that I...
Happened again
Well, I thought the problem had been fixed. Well it managed to come back today. (10 months after the dealer "fixed it") I pulled the car out of a warmish garage into near-freezing but dry conditions. I had only driven a couple of minutes when I noticed the same uneven pattern on...
You really need to balance the whole assembly together. Some have tried a new aftermarket DS which would come balanced already and their vibration is no better.
"OMG I can t believe you did that on stands! lol"
Yup. Me too. That's how it's done when you don't have a hoist.
(My front wheels were on ramps)
The benefit is that any vibrations are not dampened with the rubber of the tires. So you can feel it even more, which helps with the balancing.
I...
That sounds good in theory, but... The weight of the screw is also partially offset by the weight of the rest of the clamp, (the band) so how much weight would you really have to add? How much will the tack weigh? Without precision balancing tools, I don't think it is feasible to determine how...
It is just the adjustment screw that is the weight. Any other weights on the shaft are from factory.
You would be astonished how much effect the small weight of the hose-clamp has. I balanced mine close to perfection, but if you simply rotate the hose clamp to the opposite side to where it...
