I agree it is subjective. My engine was covered 100%, however it was three agonizing weeks of waiting to see if it would be covered. I consider it a huge lesson learned....do not tune or modify your car if you are worried about the warranty.
It was covered under warranty to the tune of almost $7000. To the dealer's credit, they were outstanding. Put me in a rental for three weeks and had my car detailed at the end since there was oil all over it. And this wasn't even the dealer I bought the car from.
Had my second windshield replaced....
So for those keeping score my car has had:
Two windshields replaced
Turbo replaced
Engine replaced
Passenger seat replaced
AC compressor replaced
14k on the odometer in 18 months and this car has had more repairs than every other car I've owned combined...
I agree with you that it is luck of the draw. Mine was maintained extremely well and not pushed hard or tracked. It had a tune which was the only mod on the car other than the rocker stripes.
Now that the engine has been replaced, I'm not touching the car. It sucks because I know how...
Mine is a 6-speed. I never did hear back from Ford if they found what failed on my engine and I suspect I never will.
I understand what a lot of people are saying on here with regards to Ford's obligation to prove that it was a mod that caused the failure, but the reality is Ford has...
I'm still here. and have been since the beginning of this forum under another username.
Based on the posts on this forum from people that have blown their engines (which I realize is a tiny subset of the general population), it appears as though Ford will not acknowledge an issue with the...
Unfortunately this was the forth time the car has been in the shop this year (turbo malfunction @ 2 months, passenger seat replaced, AC went out, and now the engine). In addition to the three recalls which I actually expected with it being the first year
The new engine is running great and is...
Thank you for proving my point. If this engine is susceptible to catastrophic failure, even more of a reason to keep it stock. I have come across six blown engines on this forum. So far two un modded engines were replaced under warranty and three modded engines had to pay out of pocket with...
My choice of words in the original post were poor as well. I should have said I was going around another car as I wasn't passing in the sense of suddenly accelerating to get around them.
I do agree that the car was beautiful enough to make me buy my first American branded car in 20+ years...
By no means did I stomp on it. Additionally, the car did not come with a disclaimer that said no sudden acceleration in 5th or 6th. If that is the case with this engine, then I'm very happy I can hand them back the keys next year and walk away.

It is absurd to think in 2015 I can walk in to a Ford dealer and buy what is essentially an "economical" performance car where I should mindful of driving 60 in 5th gear. If the engine is that sensitive, it should not be in a mass market vehicle.

I have run 93 octane in the car since day 1. Car had 12k miles on it when the engine went. I was probably going about 60 in fifth gear at the time.
Three days before this happened, I took the car in because the AC wasn't working on the drivers side. At the same time, they performed the...
Greetings everyone,
I offer this post as a cautionary tale to those of you that may be considering modifying your Mustang in some way, shape or form.
Three weeks ago, I was driving home from work when I felt a hesitation while passing a car (similar to when you hit redline and the...
