Nizz55, you are correct on the crossover. The factory speaker had a cap and a coil, Cap for low frequency cut off and Coil for High frequency. without those you would be running a full range audio signal to the speakers and could end up blowing them. OEM Audio+ has a drop in speaker solution...

Yes, you can use an LOC with no speaker connected. With regards to second questions.......you can run a LOC on the output to a factory Subwoofer amp. The better solution is to tap on the sub signal before the amplifier.
