The need for a stabilizer strap depends on the bike rack design, not the hitch. I have the Curt hitch and a 1up bike rack and no stabilizer strap is required. The 1up rack does recommend the use of a Velcro safety strap, but that cannot be seen with the bike rack on the car.
1UPUSA (https://www.1upusa.com) has an accessory, their fender cushion, for their racks that allow bikes with fenders. They don't work for all bikes with fenders, but maybe they'll work with your bike. Not perfect because it rubs on your fender.
If you did get the 1UP rack remember they...
I had both of my rear windows done this way last month at the dealer. Now my rear windows close with a solid clunk. Maybe they adjusted it a bit too much, but is sure beats the wind noise of a partially open window.
J&M products is the other vendor, but evidently the convertible ones are still not ready. See this thread: http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54813
Still I'd rather have the lighter Steeda ones even if they aren't quite as long as the J&M ones, but it may come down to whose come...
There's no mention of convertibles either in this post or on your web site.
Do these fit the convertibles? Or have you yet to find a convertible owner to work with?
I've already decided the stock shifter needs to go, and am willing to give up something on the issue of NVH.
I have read about everything I can find, and the information is still not surprisingly conflicting.
I have studied the designs and the presence or lack of bushings. However, isolation...
I am deciding between these two shifters, and from what I've read function wise I'd be happy with either. But I don't want my car's interior to be any louder than necessary. (No loud aftermarket exhausts for me.) So it's NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) that may make the decision for me...
Definitely irrelevant. Just send it to me, and I'll dispose of t for you.
Seriously, a Valentine One can still be a useful tool even in this day of Waze. But, the Valentine One must be updated. My Valentine One was worthless until I had it updated last summer, to the tune of about 3/4 the...
I'll pipe up. Here's my CO EB PP convertible, new in November 2015, 12,800 miles as of today, and no regrets. Maybe I'll step outside again just to look at it.
I thought I'd give a couple more words of warning about installation of the Curt receiver:
1. Make sure the bolts with the fish wires on them fit through the holes in the receiver. Not even one of my eight bolts would fit through any of the holes in my receiver with the fish wires...
Here's a pic of my almost new 1up rack with bike on my 16 convertible with a Curt receiver.
I can't believe I spent as much for a rack as I did, but now that I have the 1up I can't believe how easy it is to load and unload the bike. Just like the Mustang, it was money well spent.
In case anyone is interested, Autoanything currently has the Curt 11405 receiver hitch for $167.99, plus free shipping for orders over $99. Enter the promo code MOD20 in March to get another 20% off. I just ordered mine and it cost me $134.99...
I did this too. Before I removed the plastic bits there was no way the plug would have reached the TIP sensor. After removing the plastic bits the wire was barely long enough, and that's with it still having way too more tension than I am comfortable with.
Where exactly did you cut your tape...
