5g Mustang owner here.
Here's what they look like on a previous gen.
Originally bought them when they came out with plans to move to a 6g Mustang and bring the wheels with me.
Pretty much where my thoughts are going as well.
Not quite ready for an occasional use car to bring to shows. I want a driver's car, one I wanna drive all of the time.
Current favorite is the GTPP 2016.
Just gotta decide if I wanna order it right now, or wait a couple of months for the...
Alright, the wife and I went and test drove a corvette over the weekend. Not a Z06 because those are fairly rare around here.
Impressions: It's alot like the Z3, in that you sit low. It's comfortable. The "low rent" interior didn't bother either of us. Except that the "leather seats"...
Haven't really. Not really sure why.
There was 1 for sale on craigslist a few months ago. Just plain haven't seen them since, but then I haven't been looking.
But finding low mileage examples gets alot more rare.
Conversely with X-Plan I can buy a new S550 anytime. They are just going to keep making them. In fact the s550s may get cheaper when the Camaro comes out and provides some sales competition
Currently I am leaning much more heavily back to the S550 side.
Either one will be plenty fast for me, especially coming from the Z.
S550
+ The wife and I both love the interior of the S550.
+ Looks better
+ More reliable and cheaper to repair if I have a problem
+ Snow mode and...
I checked insurance last night. For me, a 40 year old married male with a clean record, there is a $4 difference per month between the two.
'16 GTPP $314.60 / 6 months
'11 GT500 $338.35 / 6 months
.01 BMW Z3 $214.64 / 6 months (Current Car)
Each one costs about the same to insure as the...
OK Great. I'll still wait for data.
And cost to come down. Because after all, adding a supercharger onto the S550 puts me in the price range of the '13-'14 GT500s
It's stretching it for me to get either one of these. There is no more in the budget for mods.
I said I would not supercharge the car, no interest. Reasons being cost and long-term reliability. Then someone tries to convince me because a few Rousch cars haven't exploded immediately?!
You can't tell me long term reliability isn't effected. I know too much about metallurgy to believe...
Sure it will. You're pushing the cylinder pressures beyond spec.
In a GT500 not only is the compression ratio lowered to keep cylinder pressures within it's target, also the block / head combination is made more sturdy to begin with to compensate for the designed in greater cylinder...
Not going to do that. I plan on running it a long time, and reliability is important. Not going to shorten it's life by turning up the wick, so to speak.
If I want the supercharged performance I'll get the GT500
Thanks! Glad to see someone else cross shopped these.
I do plan on getting snow tires and driving whichever one I get in winter also. Not on the snowiest days of course, but when it's just dry and cold, why not.
The aluminum block in this case warms up much faster.
I was originally in the market for a 2016 Mustang GT Premium.
But it was brought to my attention that used GT500s are in the same ball park monetarily. (high 30k's to low 40k's)
Now while it's fairly easy to test drive New Mustangs, getting a test drive on a GT500 is alot more rare. I have...
Except these questions arise because those of us who don't have a car yet are looking for others experiences. Maybe you've thought of something I haven't, for example. Or maybe the marketing is overblown in this aspect or that. Which I'd never know if I didn't go on here and read about it...
