Yep Tob, it took me a few months of research and communication, plus an on-site visit to meet the Service Manager and explain my concerns. He relayed my thoughts to the right SA. I took my time and when I felt comfortable, I went ahead with it. Took the day off and hung out while the work was...
2016 Tech with 3800 miles. Didn't drive it much waiting to do the recall. Also did its first oil change at the recall appt, so I haven't tracked any oil consumption.
No issues at all.
I just had the recall done on my '16 GT350 at Frontier Ford in Santa Clara, CA.
My SA Leo and my Technician Rich were extremely accommodating to my request for visibility. I was very concerned that the recall and re-installation of the splitter would have issues, as I had read about here...
Here's a pic of the box I received. The fitment was perfect. Worked like a champ.
I found the info last year here. It was discussed a while ago. A few guys here have the same ones. I just did a search on Summit for the Gorilla number and bought them there.
A while back now, but I swapped out the chrome lug nuts for black ones. I just don't understand why black wheels don't come with black nuts from OEM.
These are them: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/gor-96643bdx
LOL, of course... https://www.shelbystore.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=TCS-GT350
"The product you are trying to view no longer exists."
Hmmm. http://www.shelbystore.com/product-p/SHELBY-30.htm
But it worked if I searched for it.
I freaked out after the first scrape or 10... Now, if i rub it's not such a big deal.. Unless it goes "Wham!!". Then I'll freak once again.
I'm building a new garage for my toys and they're out there laying the pavement down today. We've measured the GT350 and the angle of attack over and...
They deign their stealthboxes to secure using existing/factory holes. Installation is very quick and simple. I don't have one in my GT350, but did in E46 M3's, SN95 Mustangs and various VW's too. All have been similar and easy. Well worth the higher cost. Sound is solid and so is the mounting.
+1 for the Stealthbox. I've had 3-4 of them over the years. Quality sound, installation and build. Pricey indeed, but worth it... and saves the trunk space.
When I took it in for a smog check to get my CA title, the tech wouldn't touch it. Said the exposed air cleaner was an aftermarket part and he wouldn't pass it. Even after I showed him pictures of it in the Ownwer's Manual he said he could lose his license if he worked on it. Took me 15 minutes...
Honestly only 1 regret:
Not getting an R!
Over the years I owned many Mustangs. I always wished I got the Cobra but never did. I promised myself this time I would get the best. I fell short on the R, but the car is still top of the food chain!
I highly recommend CorteX. My '66 Fastback is a CorteX Extreme Grip car. I had all of their stuff (shy of the front spindles) put on it a few years back and I've had nothing but a great experience with it. Filip is a great guy, super smart and easy to work with.
There was no outright cost to me. It is a service that the dealer already subscribed to. Most likely because they have sold many cars out of state in the past.
Cool, let me know how it goes.
Darren
I would have the selling dealer call DMV Nationwide. It's a company that does new car registration for dealers across the country for all different states. They did the reg for mine in TX coming to CA as a CA car.
Worth a shot as they can have the car reg started before you pick it up and...
Great video Treynor. I'm heading out there on 6/6 with my '66 and the NCRC. My GT350 is a Tech Pack and my '66 is a track car, so I'm taking the one built to handle the heat.
Question: Instead of lifting, did you try closing off the exhaust on 5?
