Btw , also for anyone that wants and easy fix to remove the awful beeping sound from the unit do the following :
1- remove the unit
2- remove the black cover with the pony logo
3 - locate the small black buzzer
4 - use a hot glue gun and put a drop in the hole of the buzzer
5 - reinstall...
I used to have the same problem but only happened to me when I have the unit working for long periods (up to 3 hours or more) what I did to fix it is remove everything again and resettled the connector that goes to the CD player box take care specially for the individual cable in the connectors...
Near the mirror will be the best location and to ensure a good satellite reception, as you mention you can install it behind the dash under the trim but it will reduce satellite reception . You will barelly notice the antenna if you install it behind the mirror I think this is the best place
The colored ones will not be used , the ones with the caps (RCA) are used if you want to install a front view camera and also as an Audio/Video input if you want to conect an external source or a wifi mirror device for example .
You need to plug the thumb drive in the tomtop usb cable and it needs to be plugged in before you turn on the unit if you plug in whe the unit is already on it won't read the thumb drive
Did you disable front view camera in settings ? The same thing happened to me all i have to do is disable front view camera , after you do this power cycle the unit because i have found that some of the changes you do will take effect only after power cycle :thumbsup::thumbsup:
Make sure all the connections in the cd unit are pluged , the red conecttor I think is the antenna for the radio, for the sync if everything is connected ok on the sync box ( llittle black box above the cd player) try disconecting the negative terminal of the car battery for 1 minute and then...
