  1. More proof that an oil separator is a good idea

I gotta believe keeping a pool of oil--I get about a tsp. every 1K miles--out of the intake system has to be a positive (the port injectors only run some of the time). It's a 5min install; most mechanics will charge a minimum shop time (which can run over $100/hr). It's butt-simple and fits...
  2. More proof that an oil separator is a good idea

Interesting, to me at least, is that the JLT can--and maybe the FP can--are not 'CARB approved.' There's no logical reason since, if anything, a catch can can help avoid emissions issues--and I can see no potential downsides--but my guess is some companies just don't want to go to the effort and...
  3. More proof that an oil separator is a good idea

Not necessarily. There's other possible 'explanations:' - added cost - owner/operator confusion* - CAFE regulations (the CC I have on my Bullitt isn't 'CAFE Approved;' I remove it for (free dealer) oil changes just in case) * My dad was a factory rep for Ford in the mid-sixties (he got several...
  4. Selling 10 speed for 6 speed manual

I'm not arguing choice, I'm all for it (in all respects). I don't believe I said anything against 'choice'--or ATs, for that matter--in my previous post except, perhaps, my opinion that MTs are more engaging (that's hardly a stand against choice unless you're a real AT stan). But OP wanted to...
  5. Selling 10 speed for 6 speed manual

I haven't followed this thread after the first page or two, so forgive me if this has been suggested already: I think, with a manual you will actually drive a bit slower (and possibly avoid a ticket or two). My take: - with an AT, all you have to do is stomp on the accelerator to go; I find...
  6. Official Ford Sync3 3.4 Release

Known in the technology field as 'Agile Development.'
  7. Official Ford Sync3 3.4 Release

Side note: I gotta believe some mid-level procurement manager at Ford, or any of the other car companies, held his/her hand up at a meeting last year to say: "Hey, with all the other guys cancelling orders why don't we stock up on those 'chips' our cars use so many of. They don't need to be...
  8. Official Ford Sync3 3.4 Release

I've been trying to upload the log file--from a fast computer and internet connection--for days now, at differing times, with no luck. This happened at the last update round, what, a year ago? So they've had a year to fix what should be a simple file upload process; every time I hear a car...
  9. Official Ford Sync3 3.4 Release

Dumb question: Where can I get an updated maps file? Is CyanLabs secure? Edit: BTW, the SYNC update worked smoothly, but Ford won't take my log file either.
  10. Official Ford Sync3 3.4 Release

I wish I knew. Last rev, I went through all the steps to upgrade via a thumb drive; I expected new maps to come with the SYNC update but, still, NA 1 17.
  11. Official Ford Sync3 3.4 Release

Same here. SYNC says I'm 'up to date,' but the map S/W still says NA 1 17.
  12. Official Ford Sync3 3.4 Release

I think if you have the 'Automatically Download Updates' option enabled this is what's supposed to happen. I've not been able to download a Sync update over wi-fi before; maybe Ford's getting better at this whole 'digital' fad.
  13. Official Ford Sync3 3.4 Release

Thanks for the reply. Wonder how wi-fi handles the 'upload the download conf file so Ford knows what you got' part?
  14. Official Ford Sync3 3.4 Release

Anybody been able to download over wi-fi?
  15. Mobility kit vs. Spare tire

That's a pretty cool gadget; smaller than my electric scissor jack (but about twice as expensive).
  16. Ford Performance Tune for 2018+ GT

Ah. 303 makes good stuff; we used to use one of their products to clean and polish acrylic aircraft windshields.
  17. Ford Performance Tune for 2018+ GT

What do you use to condition the seal? TIA
  18. Platform Numbering

Anyone know (for sure) what the 'platform' nomenclature means? IIRC, Fox Body was S95 (or something), my '08 Bullitt was an S197, my '19 is an S550 and the next revision looks to be S650. Are the numerals just engineering revisions (which might explain the large gap between S197 and S550)? And...
  19. "Let's be reasonable. We can't do that."

I get 'Free oil changes for life' for my Bullitt; getting the fourth or fifth in a week. GF bought a Fusion from same dealer and she gets them too. They advertise them on the local FM station.
  20. Mobility kit vs. Spare tire

To my knowledge, there isn't much to inspect or change on a modern car except tires, oil and filters (oil/air). I put 124K miles on my '08 Bullitt with no dealer service at all--well, except for shit I broke--and it was running strong when I traded it in (I put new plugs in myself at 80K, just...
