  3. Income and taxes question, theoretical.

I already make coffee at home. Get the free phone when I get a cell phone, budget etc. When I buy lunch I am getting the 2 for 3 bucks at dunkin next door. Otherwise I eat a meal replacement bar that costs 1.75. I buy my clothes from walmart, my shoes from the clearance rack. I cut my own hair...
  4. Income and taxes question, theoretical.

Lol, I'm 43. I was Homeless at one point well before I met my wife. We have a roof over our heads, a couple of decent cars. Three houses? One would be nice.
  5. Income and taxes question, theoretical.

I saved thousands to make a down payment on a house. Medical debt split amongst debt collectors and my score dropped like a boulder. As this was round 3 we decided "fuck it" might as well buy the vehicles we need/want because buying a home is nowhere in sight.
  6. Income and taxes question, theoretical.

When one month you have 200 left in your account and the next month -175, retirement is hoping the government doesn't eliminate social security.
  7. Income and taxes question, theoretical.

I work in a group of about 40. 1 has a 401k. 50% of stocks are owned by less than 1% in the US. A 401k with 5k in it can turn into jack sh!t in one trading day.
  8. Income and taxes question, theoretical.

Sounds to me like you are wealthy enough to worry about any off that. Most are not. Why do you think people say "tax the rich"? I mean if we want to talk reality. I know two people who own stocks. One has over 600k on average, the other just over 1.5m. I know dozens of people who don't own a...

To that end, they need to stop with the GD earmarks and special projects inserted into bills. Need something funded? Make it it's own bill. If it can't stand on it's own, it doesn't get funded.
  10. [Locked due to politics] Student debt cancelation. Seems there are strong opinions against it from some.

Call me delusional but you gu You are not delusional. Our nation has let countless men and women like you down. We are all in a debt of gratitude to you all, that words can never repay. Most kids these days don't sign up to defend the "greatest country on earth" because this country treats...

I tried to join for that reason. A bad knee and foot and they said no thank you.

I would only want to go that route if it meant eliminating campaign donations over 100 dollars. Then do publicly funded campaigns.
  13. Income and taxes question, theoretical.

I agree a lot with this. However there are some things the Federal government should be funding. Researching thread patterns of ancient textiles not being one. We do need defense, and yes a large portion of that is being wasted, without the greed I think we could have a much more effective...
  14. Income and taxes question, theoretical.

I disagree. I think it's necessary part of a successful society. A taxless society would also be a lawless one.
  15. Income and taxes question, theoretical.

The scenario is based on the idea that higher incomes across the board would yield and allow higher taxes. In conjunction with fiscal responsibility (not giving corporate subsidies and actually a tax system that is simple therefore impossible to get out of for corporations), we could eliminate...

    1350 - 350 = 1000 3400-1400 = 2000 I guess "take home" means something different to others?
  17. Income and taxes question, theoretical.

I didn't say percentages. I just meant your actual take home pay and your tax amount. Say if your take home was 1k a week and your taxes were 350, your take home would jump to 2k, and the taxes would jump to 1400. Meaning your paycheck after taxes would be 2k.

A slight difference between 331 trillion and 1.5 trillion. But ok. To put it in perspective, the student loans are capital that is in the economy today. To finalize the loan, the lender repays the FED. Which is over a course of years, actually decades in a lot of cases. So it is not an instant...
