  1. What did you do to your UK S550 Mustang Today

Ford are done, collecting after work today. They were good enough to send me a short video clip of where exactly they thought the noise was coming from. With the old bearing in place, the tech could hold the driveshaft and rotate the bearing back & forth and hear a clicking due to some play...
  2. BMR Tech Tip: Check those axle-to-spindle retaining nuts!

Well, got the call from Ford. All good to go and they are confident the bearing/washer was the issue. Interestingly, they were good enough to send me a video. Screenshot here; The technician explains where exactly he thought the clicking was coming from. With the old bearing in place, and...
  3. BMR Tech Tip: Check those axle-to-spindle retaining nuts!

Update. wheel bearing removed today, and according to the Ford tech, this is where he believes the click/clank sound is originating. You can see from the photos how worn the washer is, and also the face of the bearing where the washer sits. OEM bearing is available over night so I've gone with...
  4. What did you do to your UK S550 Mustang Today

Lost count of what number visit it is today, but Ford just called after taking the wheel bearing off. As suspected the thrust washer is what is likely causing this metallic click/clank sound. You can see from the photos how worn it is, and how it has worn against the metal bearing face. New...
  5. Anyone else really struggle with glass?

I’m still to polish my exterior glass, never seem to carve out time for that step when I do a wash  what i want to mention however is something i’ve stumbled across on youtube recently, particularly for the interior windshield - magic erasers. Techniques vary but essentially the “mist”...
  6. Boot lid seam corrosion/rust help

Good luck mate. Always a good sign when you can directly talk to the technicians/body shop manager. Look out for the finish when you collect - view in sunlight or bring a torch. Body shops in general tend to just buff to flatten the paint, with no thought for paint correction/swirl removal. If...
  7. BMR Tech Tip: Check those axle-to-spindle retaining nuts!

Wow. What an epic thread! Massive thanks to all who posted. Adding my experience in the hope it helps someone out. Mine may be 2 separate issues however. I went in to Ford with a creaking/clunking sound. I could replicate by bouncing the rear and would describe as a rubbery creak. Ford...
  8. Mustang Mach 1 UK Dealership Tour

Looks like it's parked in a spot ready for the 17 yo apprentice to come over with the ol yellow bucket and sponge for a good cleanin' I must admit, I'm really not a fan of the fighter jet grey. I can see why people like it, but not for me. Black or red for me, or maybe silver. Appreciate the...
  9. Get scuff marks off of door panels...how are you guys doing it.

magic erasers work well on interior surfaces. They are abrasive so go gentle. Just saturate with some interior cleaner and give it a go!
  10. What did you do to your UK S550 Mustang Today

Already bombarding this thread. One more wont hurt GT is 4 years old today - built 05/05/2017:party: if i wasn’t frantically sorting these issues, i’d be treating it to a nice mod, perhaps painted calipers. That will have to wait :frown:
  11. New drivetrain noise (creaking on takeoff)

thanks. Same here - sometime a couple of clicks. will let you know in a few days how it goes. Parts in stock so will be with ford in the next day or 2.
  12. New drivetrain noise (creaking on takeoff)

going to get ford to replace this as soon as they can get the part, in addition to the thrust washer. did you have a chance to listen to my video? Same noise?
  13. What did you do to your UK S550 Mustang Today

this is all reassuring thanks! i’ve taken the approach of the simple/cheap bits first. Sadly, the success/failure of this next step will likely determine if i take the stang up to Scotland or not. I have confidence in what the dealership is saying about it not being detrimental, but for me...
  14. What did you do to your UK S550 Mustang Today

tried that this morning, still have the clicking sound. @WD Pro - yep, had a good ol read of that thread lol thrust washer was mentioned, but a large number of folks have had success replacing the axle nut given it only produces the noise with a shift in weight (moving back/forwards, or...
  15. What did you do to your UK S550 Mustang Today

Back in to Ford today. They ruled out the brake pads as the source of the noise and are now pointing at the drivshaft. i’ll pursue this issue in a different section now, but for anyone interested i did take a video which highlights the noise really well. And the new thread...
  16. New drivetrain noise (creaking on takeoff)

Yep, spot on. Hopefully this video works - first one i’ve done! First i’ll mention a (possible) related issue from last week. I had a rubbery creaking noise coming from that corner as per the video, and Ford diagnosed as a faulty rubber seal inside the shock absorber. Replaced that and said...
  17. New drivetrain noise (creaking on takeoff)

Wow, first thread i looked at. Was trying to find a suitable section to post my issue but the op post describes it perfectly. I’m assuming this is a metallic click/creak? I actually have a video which i’ll upload shortly. I’d describe the method of replicating the noise as the transfer of...
  18. Boot lid seam corrosion/rust help

Welcome to Mustang ownership :cwl: Hang in there. There are good dealerships out there. Worth the extra hassle/distance if you have to go non local. Just stay away from the ones that don't give you a good feeling, that would be my number one piece of advice. Now that I think of it, @V8_MOTOR...
  19. What did you do to your UK S550 Mustang Today

Oh yes, a fan of the wax here too! I like his 3 wheel products the best. The wheel cleaner is just phenomenal, and the undress is very effective. The dress is a bit heavy being a gel, but again looks awesome
  20. What did you do to your UK S550 Mustang Today

Been busy this weekend. I've moved my whole detailing operation over to my girlfriends dads house (we live in a flat), which is much closer than my parents place - 5 min drive rather than an hour! Anyway, treated myself to a few new goodies. Went with a Karcher K5 compact. It's so tiny! It has...
