I think it was 2005? Road America clipped off the top of the hill and put a big flashing light as you enter the front straight after that weekend. I was behind the front guys, and the corner workers were jumping up and down with yellow, red, and black flags.
I got in the pits and got loaded up...
VIR is a great race track next to the best one at Road Atlanta.
I'd say VIR is like Sebring and Watkins Glen: It's all about racing the tracks. Here @ Sebring.
I buckled up in my harness and ran at Sebring back when the racers had plenty of money:
It all "went wrong" as in the...
I showed my sticker. It had a $1300 Federal Gas Guzzler Tax. I was good with it.
I had one chance to buy a proper Mustang flat plan crank (FPC) engine. I was all in. I suspect the low-mile cars will be very rare and valuable one day, but I like getting the factory performance today.
I have no desire to drive the 2019 GT350 on the Interstate highway. Furthermore, the Atlanta traffic runs about 80 Mph+ when not crawling in a traffic jam (same gas mileage but more fun at 80 Mph). :)
I must add that gas mileage is not my goal. I am not trying to save the world with my...
I wish I owned a 2015 GT350 with only 137 made by the factory.
It seems to me that 2016-2017 had the big production numbers. In 2018, the production was lower.
The sweet spot was 2019-2020 with lower production and more performance.
I posted my 2019 sticker that I ordered in Jan., 2019...
Just saying, but the 2019 Mustang Shelby GT350 has the same engine but with the better Ford coded tires?
My stock tires say FN, and they are really road racing slicks. They really find grip when warm.
I drive my car all year (snow and cold are rare here).
It's the fastest GT350:
I ordered it new in January of 2019 (no option car). It arrived on 7-3-19. I picked it up on 7-5-19. The first Ford oil service was June, 2020.
The car is really good:
I have had no issues with the car. I love the Brembo brakes. I like the dash shown temps on the water, oil, transmission...
I also had 5 previous Porsche cars including this 1973 Porsche 911 2.7 RS replica (air-cooled).
#1 When I roll into a Ford service bay with a new GT350, they figure I know my car.
#2 When I drive into my Porsche dealer, the poorly trained idiots assume that I have no clue about cars. These...
I would still buy a 2019/2020 GT350 over an older 2006-2012 Porsche GT3 today (a 997.1 and 997.2).
It is no doubt that you will pay almost 50% more to get into a Porsche GT3. I would also mention that the Porsche parts (they are old cars) are very expensive to service. If you need them to...
I agree that the Porsche is good. No Doubt.
I'll say both are good and for different reasons.
I like them both for different reasons:
The Porsche is better as a daily driver
The GT350 is faster and less expensive but not really a daily driver.
OK, it was before the China Virus. I also got a low trade in price on a perfect 2014 Porsche 911.
It was a very nice 991.1 with all the paperwork (and original sticker).
It was the last of the 3.4L cars with no turbo. They are now more expensive.
I own a 2019 Ford Shelby GT350 which is a great hotrod. It will do a sub-1:40 at Road Atlanta. No problem.
I have a 2020 Porsche 911 (the new 992 model not the older 991 one). It is more suitable to daily driving and has a nicer interior. It will struggle to get to a <1:40 at Road Atlanta.
