Update: Fired up, ran like a cammed 5 cylinder and stalled. Tried again. Same result. Died a little inside. Rechecked vacuum lines. Brake booster fitting popped off the intake. We good. Runs like new.

I'm able to source all of the other cam bolts as N806183S437 per the ford parts site, but the site doesn't say what bolt to use over the HPFP cam cap. I appreciate any help.

Ok, that does sound kind of risky. I didn’t think about the possibility of cams shifting. I’ll probably pass on that and just follow the service manual then.

I’d say half a turn tops. I wasn’t watching the harmonic balancer as I was turning, but about half a turn in the bolt was loose.

Yea that’s not a bad idea. Just to listen for any weird sounds. My main concern is if it messed with the timing or cam position. I can follow a video, but I wouldn’t know the first thing about making sure all 4 cams are aligned.
