  1. Electric for everyone - the impossible dream

You are aware the oil industry gets billions in subsidies and tax incentives? But that's OK?
  2. What's the one DIY project you're most proud of?

Damn, that's nice. You can come and do my yard any time!
  3. What's the one DIY project you're most proud of?

Way back when I was teenager and cows had just been invented, I spent some time on my buddie's grandfather's farm. He told me happy, well fed cows are very friendly and nosy. So, you must be doing it right.
  4. What's the one DIY project you're most proud of?

I built decks and lawn sheds. Mostly for myself, but I also guided and assisted others. I am too old (82) and unable to do this any more. I was pretty proud of what I had built though. But, what I am still able to and really enjoy is container gardening. It doesn't take up a lot of space and I...

I'm sure most of you Lego fans have seen this, but just in case...
  6. Tariff Battle Already Impacting Supply Chain For Ford

On the plus side, the value of your existing vehicle will go up.
  7. Does Anyone Actually Still Watch NASCAR?

I used to watch it back in the 50s and early 60s. I also raced 1/4 mile dirt back in the 60s. There was a lot more variety to the races when you had Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and Hudson in the mix. These were real cars, too.... fairly close to what you could buy for the street. Now they are all the...
  8. Are the automotive you tubers all gone?

I follow "I Do Cars" and LegitStreetCars. Both are interesting and informative and those guys are pretty easy to relate to.
  9. MEME THREAD 2.0 - NO POLITICS OR ANYTHING YOU WOULDNT WANT YOUNG KIDS TO SEE [READ THE WARNING]

I can relate! Here's a tip for you: when you go into a public men's room that has wall mounted urinals, always pick the kids unit. It's closer to the floor. Less chance of touching the bottom!
  10. MEME THREAD 2.0 - NO POLITICS OR ANYTHING YOU WOULDNT WANT YOUNG KIDS TO SEE [READ THE WARNING]

I had one of those, too. The 3 electron guns were liquid cooled so they never wore out. But they did lose convergence as they heated up, which made me get rid of it after many years.

Try going to the bathroom to take a piss after cutting hot peppers.
  12. Unofficial Off Topic Thread

I wasn't disputing your findings, merely expanding the context. You aren't going to get any discussion by quoting Fox. Your like-minded friends will give you an "Atta boy" and everyone else will run the other way! As for 2018, I save about $1500 (I think), but I would have much rather not add...
  13. Unofficial Off Topic Thread

I am simply saying you always manage to find the most rightward slant to everything you post. It's very obvious. And tiring. You may have noticed you are basically talking to yourself most of the time.

How about something that isn't from Fox News and is more objective: https://www.factcheck.org/2025/03/both-sides-spin-who-would-benefit-from-extending-trump-tax-cuts/

Before that, various forms of local, state and regional taxes had existed since the 1600s. The British were notorious for taxing us for just about everything.
  17. Term life insurance question

I took a whole life policy for $50k many years ago, when that was a lot of money, about the same as more than $500k today. I still have the policy. I could have cashed it in years ago, but it doesn't have much cash value and premiums are about $75 a year. Sooner or later, somebody in my family...

I just happen to have one! But, they are very rare and expensive. I can let you have it for $25 plus $15 for shipping.
  19. Major Tree Storm Damage & Insurance Claim

Do not sign a blank contract! You want a contract that spells out, in detail, exactly what work will be performed and how much it will cost. If there are additional charges or changes needed, they must be itemized, agreed to and added to a contract rider. This is the only way to protect...
  20. SUV RECOMMENDATIONS

If you want a good, cheap, used SUV, find a 2007 Saturn Vue AWD V6. It weighs much less than other SUVs, has Honda V6 running gear that lasts forever and plastic body panels that don't dent or rust. They go 200k miles with minimal maintenance costs. My wife has one and she refuses to part with...
