  1. Dis-spelling the myth that staggered tires are not good track tires

    Did Ward Cunningham write this?
  2. Window Sticker

Hey y'all. As far as I know the good people who had been doing this as a service to the forum don't do it anymore. Maybe they moved jobs or their dealer won't let them, I don't know, but I have not seen responses in a while. I ended up using monroneylabels.com from a suggestion in this...
  3. What cheap All Season tires are you running on a daily

Awesome mod list. Either those tires are amazing or TC is intervening. What kind of 60 times do you get? I don't go to the track because convertible, I just take advantage of the track apps if there is nobody behind me at an on-ramp or something. I have observed that drag mode has not...
  4. What cheap All Season tires are you running on a daily

3rd or 4th endorsement for General G-Max AS07 . When I bought mine 19 used I think the dealer slapped them on as sort of the minimum he could get away with but they have been great. I haven't tracked it but the Generals have been fantastic at double highway exit speeds, in pouring rain, and...
  5. Can a manual transmission be damaged if forced backwards while in 1st gear?

I went the other way with a commuter car I had. It was in a pretty rough crash, airbags deployed. The insurance company's "trusted shop" said the repair was like $5 less than the threshold to total it and I said hell no., total it out. I am sure they were planning on skimping on parts or...
  6. Can a manual transmission be damaged if forced backwards while in 1st gear?

Was your parking brake on or was it just in gear? I would tend to think the tires would slide before any damage happened to the trans. However, as much as it is overused advice, in this case I would also seriously consider engaging a lawyer or your insurance company for diminished value.
  7. Custom bumper flood lights

Looks good. What are the lights? How are they attached and *an you adjust where they are aimed? *can
  8. Forscan - What were the first things you've done with it ?

I disabled the setting that automatically turns off the fog lamps when you turn on the brights. I know when it's actually foggy you don't use both, however sometimes I just want all the lights on.
  9. Forscan - Halt and Disable Adaptive Learning Transmission Options

Before I got Forscan I was at the dealer getting my free oil change and asked them to reset the adaptive learning. They said the one guy who knows how to do that was busy but he'll get to it soon, and it it takes two hours. Once I got the software it took me 10 minutes to find this thread and...
  10. Bleeding brake help. hissing noise

It's interesting that the order is the "classic." I have another car where the order is not intuitive, I think it's based on distance from the ABS module.
  11. Spark plugs

What I have gleaned is that you should not go colder, but you may want to reduce the gap a bit. Other than that just as long as they are a quality brand and you keep an eye on them you should be fine.
  12. They backed into me accident. Advice.

Why? Getting might, asking for it in a firm, authoritative tone that implies you will not take "no" for an answer certainly does not.
  13. They backed into me accident. Advice.

Don't forget to demand a check for diminished value from their insurance company.
  14. Options on making fake hood heat extractors functional

I have a 19 with a stock hood and I am well aware that a) the vents are not functional and b) I don't actually need them to be, especially being an EB 'vert that isn't even allowed on track. However like OP fake vents just don't look right. So after all that and the digressions about colors...
  15. how often do you change brake fluid?

Firstly please don't take take this as being contentious. I would never dissuade someone from doing more preventative maintenance if their budget allows. That being said, if the brakes don't corrode or get soft and it's not being tracked, I don't know when one would need to change it.
  16. how often do you change brake fluid?

I'm going to be the contrarian here and say this: if, like me, you are a Corvette style jort wearing driver whose car sees more cloth diapers than track days there is a strong case to be made that you should not mess with it. It's a sealed system so unless there is a leak, opening it up is the...
  17. GT to Ecoboost

Look at Mr. "Actually answering the question and providing good advice" over here  Seriously though you do need to look at transaction costs and depreciation when you think about doing something like this. If your state has it don't forget about the sales tax if you were to buy the EB...
  18. GT to Ecoboost

Also, the manual may say that you can put 89 in the EB but unless you are a lawyer who specializes in warranty claims you best be using name brand 91-93.
