Also make sure the roll pin is centered in the shaft i forgot to mention, i blamed the aluminum boot hardware but i had interference with the roll pin, a few passes with a file took care of that, based on your statement perhaps i needed only to slightly move it to true center.

agreed, same with plastic parts on say a superduty, not bad with a color, horrendous with black. That’s why I suggested the masked color, that will give the semigloss black an intentional appearance, a finished look. Good luck to you whichever way you decide to go, you have to be happy with it.
