Four people I know in socal, mine included, have blown up. Three are gen 2s. One of them is on their third engine as well.
As a fellow Californian maybe he just hasn't had his state-mandated allotment of granola today. I often forget mine, but I can barely stay hydrated so what do I know.
They've seemed like good quality headers. Fitment is the most important aspect in my opinion and there are no issues there. Their customer support is crap though, but I've come to expect that in this industry.
I've had no IRS issues like you mentioned. The use case for drag racing may be...
Somehow I missed this in my post. Just driving around town you should be fine with the GT350. The reliability issues I've personally seen have all come from hard use so you shouldn't have to worry as much. You can't go wrong with either car though. Having driven both on and off track, Mach 1 is...
Gen 1 track rat here. All Voodoos have basically the same issues. I've seen many let go. Doesn't really matter what year.
OP: If you want something that you don't need to worry about, get the Mach 1. If you don't mind the higher chance of engine failure, the GT350 is great.
You kind of outline the problem I have with SA as a whole. Every time SA releases some car, they tease it like it isn't just a 5.0 with a blower. The weight the name used to carry was performance, now it is resale value to an extraordinarily small percentage of the population. If this was an N/A...
Two things:
1. I highly recommend ditching the header bolts and getting a set of these:

It's just one less thing that could back out and tightening header bolts with the motor in the car is a...
Nope. Zero interest in fighting with you. We simply disagree. In fact if you were ever at the same track I'd encourage you to come say hi and hang out. My camp is open to all.
I'd invite you to go back and read the thread. I did exactly what you said by mentioning non-OEM mounts aren't a good idea. What you've done, and continue to do, is criticize what someone wants to do because it "makes no sense." The things that don't make sense are the most fun. Just relax and...
What someone wants to do doesn't need to make sense. That's the beauty of buying what you want. I want to build a 24 Hours of Lemons car out of a Kei truck where you reverse the seating position and look out over the bed. Does that make sense? No. Is it cool? I think it is.
Exactly what Kevin mentioned. If you want to talk about what the gt350 was made for, it was to make money for Ford. That part is already done. Anything beyond that is up to whoever purchased it to do with as they please. All I can do is share what has been known to work and not work, that's my...
I assume that should say you haven't heard a single complaint. Complaints don't begin and end on the forum. I can tell you everyone in my region has issues with vibration and making it worse is going to require you to do a constant nut and bolt check on everything. I don't know how much time, if...
I would highly recommend not changing the motor mounts unless it is with new OEM mounts. The flat plane will vibrate everything loose constantly and will shorten the life of a lot of components.
So they actually did have an aluminum version at one point that was either an early prototype or was used in a pinch. Let me see if I can find some pics as it is pretty cool to see!
