Because the c8 has global b communication and was supposed to be impossible to crack but it was done. Ford is now on a “global b” equivalent of encryption. Thats why it’s relevant.
The crank sprocket cant move forward, the balancer pushes the sprocket into the crank and the balancer bolt provides the clamping force to keep the sprocket from slipping on the crank. The keyway is mainly for locating the crank sprocket for timing.

There is no way the balance would dictate a faulty wheel thats not bent. Also the weights shown in the picture don’t add up to much weight. You have cheap cast wheels that failed. Every one blaming the shop but not the garbage parts.
Mine had a bearing noise turned out to be just an idler pulley bearing gone bad. My gen 5 has about 70k miles on it now no issues besides the idler pulley.
