This /\ right here. My experience with oil squirters is on diesel engines. Had one where 1 squirter got partially clogged with a piece of gasket material, that cylinder locked up and then broke loose after cooling off and was knocking.
Not sure where the knock was coming from, valvetrain or bottom end.

Changed my oil on Friday. I usually pre-fill the filter but this day it was hot, I'm already under the car and the oil was in the house. Lubed the seal with old oil and screwed it on. When I started the car it knocked for a second or less, when I pre-fill I don't get any knock.

I would also pop the tops off the battery and make sure acid level is over top of the lead plates inside. Once they start to be uncovered the battery charge goes to shit also. I just use water that my basement dehumidifier collects.
