Finished the job an hour ago (little over 3 hours with my boys helping and a break for pizza) and at the alignment shop now. OMG, my rattle trap shitbox is a smooth, quiet new car again! She drove really well on the way over to the shop, so I guess things weren’t too far out when she wasn’t...
Thanks! It looks like a pretty straight forward operation, I was a little worried about compressing the strut as well. I love my Quickjack, but it was tough clocking those bushings when I installed the 350R springs. Package from LMR should arrive tomorrow, so this weekend looks like an LCA...
Well, this is where I’m headed, too. Confirmed that the front LCA joint is toast - not just the little bit of vertical movement they showed me at the shop, but a LOT of front/rear movement when I push/pull on the caliper. I’ll get that FRP kit on the way and get her knocked out over one of...
Yep, that’s definitely in the works, maybe this weekend if my kid gets done with his project early. I’m looking for reality checks on the wear side which seems low to me, but definitely getting into the range to monitor. More info to follow when I get a chance to check.
There is a noise in my front suspension - a clack sound when I apply the brakes at low speed. I noticed this sound right after I swapped the GTPP Brembo brakes onto my car, so I wrote it off as brake noise. I also used G-Loc GS-1 HP street pads and they're a little noisier than the stock pads...
If all you want to do is add the larger 5.0 Perf Package lower splitter, I think it MIGHT install directly replacing the 2018-2020? EBPP splitter. The 5.0PP1 splitter sticks out maybe an inch more than the EBPP / base GT splitter, and wouldn't require the PP1 belly pan. That pan really only...
Hey, there... It's been a while since I updated this, lots of interesting things have come to pass...
Easy answer is that the spoiler I used is a factory PP2 spoiler I purchased as a take-off from a guy who was going to a GT350R spoiler on his PP2. It is held down with 3M tape and factory...
I got the ESP warranty when I bought my car new - 8 yrs / 100k miles for like $1200. I got it for potential AC problems, but recently used it for an engine failure. Soooo glad I had that extra paper…
Drove her to work for the first time in 3 months… engine went out on November 10 and it has taken forever to get the repair done. Glad to have my girl back!
Parked with good company…
Frankly, I don’t want to paddle downshift, I want the automatic to do that for me - automatically. I wanted the A10+turbo combo for that kind of functionality, and that’s what I expected to happen. This is entirely something that could have been tuned at Ford - find the safe rpm threshold for...
That’s kinda funny because in my real job I’m a floodplain manager who is constantly telling people “turn around, don’t drown”…
Seems like the shop could pull the spark plugs and run a scope down the cylinders to see if there is any water. Same for water in the oil, but there may not be much...
Thanks, I missed my girl... They didn't seem to care about the tune, which is 99% of the reason I went with the FP tune vs. any other tune in the world. The warranty folks really did seem to care about documenting as much damage as possible before budging on approval, and that doesn't seem...
And two days short of three months later, she’s home. New engine seems to behave like a new engine, so I’m going through typical break in procedures. Fingers crossed that everything goes normally and I can get back to trusting my car again. I sure missed driving her…
Got a couple pics jd the...
58k miles, abuse would be pretty minimal in my book - she’s a commuter car that makes periodic roadtrips - so normal. I’ve built or restored several differentials and never seen anything like this. I haven’t taken this driveshaft out before so I can’t tell what is under that shield.
Shop said...
I hate to call this backlash, but it seems to be moving like backlash in the joint at the differential. This can’t be in the ring & pinion gears, I can’t imagine it would even drive with that much slop. I’m guessing something in the u-joint or whatever format it is. Makes a clunk sometimes...
Got a call yesterday that the warranty request was finally approved. Service says 2-3 days to get the replacement engine, probably another 2-3 for the install. If they can sort out the driveshaft issues at the same time, maybe I’ll get my car back next weekend? Not holding my breath on that...
