Mine went out at 15,000 miles. The clutch went first it sounded like a coffee grinder, the compressor wasn't damaged.
Ford only sells the combo you can't just get the clutch. $1800 to replace.
Mechanic told me to be sure AC and front defroster are off before you start hitting it above 6,000 RPMS...
