  1. What did you do to your S550 Mustang today?!

FP X-pipe was one of the best mods I did. That and the FP shocks/structs with BMR springs.
  2. What did you do to your S550 Mustang today?!

Installed the Ford Performance toe to knuckle bearings. Install wasn't that bad at all. It was enjoyable working on the car. Don't feel a difference on the road. Got the bearings by using my ford points.
  3. Pinion nut pre-load

Is this where others have been referring to as a non-crush sleeve? I have been looking online for one that first the IRS but I am not able to.
  4. Pinion nut pre-load

Took some measurements of the crush sleeves and here is what I found: New crush sleeve:55.34mm Used crush sleeve: 54.86mm Diff: 0.82mm = 0.032in which is much less than 1/16inch
  5. Pinion nut pre-load

Thanks John. Wow that is quite different from what I’m getting
  6. Pinion nut pre-load

I did the opposite. Put resistance on the ring while turning the pinion. Saw someone do that on YouTube so I tried it. Now everything is disassembled. Once I put things together I will try your way. Much appreciated.
  7. Pinion nut pre-load

Yes the nut was staked. I literally just grabbed the diff with the ring, gave it a slight pull and it just fell out. I also noticed a lot of debris by the drain and fill plugs.
  8. Pinion nut pre-load

Also the pinion outer bearing is still in the housing but it has a lot of play. Does that make a difference?
  9. Pinion nut pre-load

Thank you John. You are correct. I just measured them and it is a tad shorter. Is it usually so easy for things to come apart? Also any ideas for the no preload on the pinion?
  10. Pinion nut pre-load

Well today has been eventual with the diff. The first thing I did was to get the pattern on the rings. I thought I saw somewhere that posted what the pattern should look like but cannot find it. Here is a picture of what I got. While rotating the pinion to get the pattern, I would hear an...
  11. Pinion nut pre-load

Here is an update. I was able to measure the backlash and it was about 0.015. Little bit over the allowed range from what I know. Do these numbers make sense? Hopefully I’m measuring things properly.
  12. Pinion nut pre-load

Read all that. Great write up! Pretty much went through all the threads on this forum. But little bit nerve wracking doing it for the first time :)
  13. Pinion nut pre-load

Thank you very much for the reply. This is the first time doing this so excuse my ignorance. So that I understand correctly, to get a more accurate measurement, I would need to remove the diff cover, remove the actual diff (Torsen) with the ring gear from the housing and then measure pinion...
  14. Pinion nut pre-load

Thank you for the response. The listing just said low miles so not sure the exact miles. I did not install the diff on the car. Is there a way I can measure the breakaway torque while the diff is off the car? Also do you know the preload range while the diff is off the car?
  15. Pinion nut pre-load

So I just got a diff assembly (used) and measured the pinion flange pre-load while the assembly is outside the car. It read 5lb in. Reading other threads it appears people are reading 35. Just want to mention that I didn’t do anything other than measuring. Is this normal?
  16. What did you do to your S550 Mustang today?!

Thank you for the detailed explanation. Can’t wait to get all the components for mine too.
  17. What did you do to your S550 Mustang today?!

What is the difference between the PP splitter and the regular GT? From the pictures, it looks the same to me. I also have a 2023 GT and planning to do the same thing. Waiting for the splitter to arrive. Did you also install the PP fender liners?
  18. lateral link removal

Same situation. Took a few hours to get both both ball joints off. Will do the other side tomorrow. Maybe they have a trick to make it easier to pop off? I don't know.
