  1. Can a case be made for leaving it bone stock?

The car can be jacked up safely without jacking rails if you are careful. The jacking rail makes it much easier and allows you to jack up one side of the car instead of one wheel at a time. If I remember correctly, CJ Pony Parts has a pretty good video on how to properly jack up the S550.
  2. Can a case be made for leaving it bone stock?

My 2017 GT/CS is close to stock. I use it as a touring car not as a track car. I had the resonator replaced with an X-pipe, and the Ford Performance Power Pack 1 tune installed by the Ford dealer (to preserve the warranty). The PP1 tune is a mild, but noticeable, improvement. The power...
  3. What's so Special about a California???????

For those that are interested in the history of the GT/CS there is an article on Ford Performance's website about it. The article is written by Paul Newitt who has literally written the book on GT/CS history. You can find the story here: GT/CS Retrospective Paul is a member of World Wide...
  4. Identify please.....

You are correct, Superformance cars are not kits.
  5. Identify please.....

Shelby wanted to race in Europe in 1964, but the Cobra roadsters didn't have the top end speed needed to compete with Ferrari on the longer straights of the European circuits like Le Mans and Monza. The 427 Cobra was not fully developed so SA was in a bit of a bind on what to do. Pete Brock's...
  6. 2016 mustang gt tune

I have a 2017 GT with with the 6 speed auto and 3.55 Limited Slip rear end. Mine is not a daily driver, but is used as a touring car. I installed the Ford Performance Power Pack 1 tune. While it doesn't provide quite as much of a power increase as the Power Pack 2 you've been looking at, it...
  7. “Next Gen” Mustang Will be Electric (EV) Only Claims Autoline

Grid tied systems have to go down when grid goes down to avoid back feeding power into the grid and potentially shocking any one working on the lines. If you add storage batteries and a transfer switch, your power will stay up when the grid goes down.
  8. Big move by GM out of gas/diesel cars/suvs - wonder what Ford's response will be?

The auto industry has reached an inflection point for mass adoption of electric vehicles. The need to reduce CO2 emissions combined with the improving economics of electric vehicles are leading all major manufacturers to pour billions of dollars into electric vehicle development. The economics...

  10. What's so Special about a California???????

The 1968 GT/CS used 1965 Thunder Bird tail lights.
  11. What's so Special about a California???????

The California Special has historical significance which is why I find owning one that much more special (pardon the pun). In addition, as others have said, the suede seats are really comfortable. Here is some of the GT/CS's history: Lee Grey was the Southern California...
  12. What is it like driving '65 - '73 Mustang and how does it compare to a S550??

My Dad had a '72 Fastback with the 351 CI/ 2BBL carb. engine. I drove it quite a bit when it was new. It was a large car that burned lots of gas and wasn't very fast. Handling was nothing special, steering was vague (as most American cars were), and the brakes easily overheated when driven...
  13. what new mods actually give real performance?

For my purposes, PP1 had what I was looking for at a much lower cost than PP2. I don't really need the extra power that PP2 delivers.
  14. what new mods actually give real performance?

I installed Ford Performance's Power Pack 1 on my 2017 GT/CS. This is a mild modification (new tune, high flow air filter) but makes a noticeable difference. Throttle response is improved, the auto trans is more responsive, and there is more low end torque than before. For street cars, I think...
  15. How to Make a 2017 Sound More Like a 2019

I replaced the resonater on my 2017 with an X-pipe. Its a bit louder than stock, but is easy to live with and is relatively inexpensive.
  16. "Mustang Mach E" Confirmed, Reservations Begin Immediately After Nov 17 Live-Streamed Reveal

What Ford has done with the Mach E isn't really much different than what Porsche did when it introduced the Cayenne and Macan SUVs. Sales of true Porsches: 911's, Caymans, and Boxsters, weren't really effected. Porsche brought more people to their brand by widening the buying audience beyond...
  17. For those who traded a vehicle you loved, for an S550, was it worth it?

I sold my Mazda Miata convertible and bought a Mustang GT, but I also kept my Ford Edge for ski trips, fishing, hauling dogs around, and bad weather. The Miata, the way I had it set up, was one one the best handling cars I've ever driven. Precise, quick , with tons of grip. However, it was...
  18. Sticky steering wheel

The leather is likely picking up moisture and oil from your hands. Everyone's hands are different, my steering wheels tend to stay in pretty good shape, but my wife's cars always need regular cleaning to remove dirt and oil build up (maybe its the hand lotion she uses, who knows). Check this...
  19. How many GTs are Owned by Seniors?

I'm 61 and this is my first Mustang. Had the typical family cars for years, then a Miata soft top (really fun car, but wife not a big fan). My Mustang always brings a smile to my face!
  20. Annoyance; easy entry/exit

My seat always returns to the correct position on my 2017 unless I provide some resistance to the seat moving, like pushing on the brake pedal or having my seat belt fastened when the seat was all the way back.
