  1. Interesting oil consumption theory I hadn't heard

I'm just happy my replacement engine on my 2017 now after 2000 miles hasn't burned anything by the mark on the dipstick 🤞. Already has saved me the cost of 4 quarts of oil!
  2. 2017 owner manual supplement

I'm sure the problem is resolved but another thought that occurred to me is you can also toggle through the digital gauges and make sure the transmission cooler is working as another way to tell. It is my understanding that on the Tech packages you had to enable it through Forscan to get a...
  3. 2017 owner manual supplement

As stated, all 2017s have coolers, so you should be ok. That supplement may just be a carryover. If you can't tell by looking under the car, the tech cars had that very thin rear spoiler you can look up pictures of to see (unless your spoiler was replaced I suppose).
  4. Ford Inspector for Warranty Repair-Update:Warranty Denied Claim Due to Off Road Racing

So it looks like in Chevy's ESP the words competitive driving and racing might give them the same out with your arbitrator?
  5. Ford Inspector for Warranty Repair-Update:Warranty Denied Claim Due to Off Road Racing

An arbitrator has determined that, in this instance, if by admission or with incontrovertible evidence there is track use, then the ESP will not cover failed components. Bottom line: don't expect your ESP to cover if you track the car. Doesn't mean ESPs are all bad. If there had been no...
  6. Ford Inspector for Warranty Repair-Update:Warranty Denied Claim Due to Off Road Racing

Can someone enlighten me on ESP coverage of track use and drive train failures past the factory warranty on any track capable car other than the GT350? Is Ford the stand alone bad guy manufacturer here?
  7. Has anyone owned an R first, and went to a non-R?

You've had an R. Find someone near you on the forum with a non-R, go for a drive and make up your mind.
  8. I think I castrated my Shelby….and I’m not happy about it

Mod discussion aside, any day I want to start with a good laugh I just pull up and reread the metaphors in OP's original post.
  9. Ford Inspector for Warranty Repair-Update:Warranty Denied Claim Due to Off Road Racing

I really doubt the positive effect will be much if OP wins. The only cases that will apply are cars with "racing" paraphernalia on them that have a ESP covered failure. Had they not been on OP's car, the transmission would have been covered. So the insurance company is out a few thousand bucks...
  10. INFORMATION ON TEMPETURES

If I understand your question correctly, toggle through each reading by pressing the arrow right and you will have the reading displayed on a gauge that will give you an idea of the normal range you should expect.
  11. Questioning Gen 2 voodoo reliability

Nothing earth shaking but one more opinion for you. Simple answer to your question is for non track use and if not beat on, a Gen 2 GT350 almost certainly long term reliable. No guarantees in life. Any car can be a lemon. To me purchasing extended warranties has more to do with what you can...
  12. Expedite Backordered 5.2 Voodoo Engine replacement?

Understand a small but not insignificant percentage of Gen 1s failed with same scarring/ring failure including mine and if I recall correctly my cylinders were 4,5, and 8. Thought they fixed it with the Gen 2s. Hope for the best.
  13. For Sale 2016 GT350 Showroom Condition

So is this a tech version without the extra coolers you put a CF spoiler on or was it originally a track version you just wished to change out to CF for some reason?
  14. Frustrated 4th owner looking for one (1) 2015-2018 front wheel . . .

Just a thought, not likely worth two cents, but with people looking for parts and some of these cars ending up in junk yards, is it worth considering to have a thread or registry of where those cars end up so people can contact them and get those parts? Or is this too old school and not done...
  15. Ford Inspector for Warranty Repair-Update:Warranty Denied Claim Due to Off Road Racing

Nice article. Under the terms of the factory warranty would agree that racing should be covered. But the arbitrator is not looking at the factory warranty. So can you deny that the ESP contract specifically states "racing" not covered, which those of us with an ESP signed, mostly unknowingly...
  16. Ford Inspector for Warranty Repair-Update:Warranty Denied Claim Due to Off Road Racing

The first round will belong to the arbitrator. Look at it from that perspective. 1) No one can prove or disprove if the OP raced the car. 2) Track use does not exclude coverage, racing does. 3) Most people in HPDE events do not have roll bars and race seats installed in their cars. The...
  17. Why is oil level such a PITA to determine?

OP's main complaint is the smear and I agree it's a PITA. What works for me is to remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, then leave it out and wait 5-10 minutes for the oil in the tube to drain back into the engine. Then reinsert the dipstick and remove to check level. Most of the time this...
  18. First time putting a car away for winter, what is needed?

Would only add the fill up has been suggested to be best with non-ethanol gas.
  19. Warranty questions.

Personally would do the 4 year re: cost benefit. You car is low mileage and you may not have enough use on it to tell if A/C and oil consumption are problems which could easily cover its cost. Hopefully you will put enough miles on it! Caution as per other thread on modifying it for track as...
  20. Ford Inspector for Warranty Repair-Update:Warranty Denied Claim Due to Off Road Racing

I would agree in general with @Cobrajet's earlier comment regarding ESPs most of the time but in this circumstance of an expensive to replace unique engine I felt it was warranted when I bought it in 2017. My ESP has paid off in spades at 54k miles with a new engine for oil consumption that went...
