If the 2K rattle is normal and caused by the DI fuel pump, why hasn't Ford put out a SSM/service bulletin saying that? If would save them a big headache. The dealerships use the BBQ tick SSM to say that all engine noises are "normal", even though the BBQ tick SSM is addressing a different...
Which year(s), and which manual?
I know for a fact that the 2015 OM or SM says anything about using 5W-50 for track use. The 2018+ OM says to use 5W-30 for track use. And the 2015 OM says absolutely nothing about using any heavier oil for track use.
Yes, it won't hurt to use 5W-50, but that...
I'm still wondering if the 2K rattle is cam chain/tensioner noise - it sounds like that kind of noise. Wasn't it mentioned somewhere that after market chain tensioners can cure the 2K rattle?
Ford has not ever recommended 5W-50 for the Coyote. Look at any 2015+ Coyote owner's manual or service manual. The only time 5W-50 is recommend is when Roush puts a supercharger on a Coyote.
Are you confusing "BBQ Tick" with the "2000 RPM Rattle" ? They are not the same noise.
You have a link to sources showing how it's been proven that the BBQ Tick is caused by piston slap?
I've been reading and participating for over 5 years on this forum about all the Coyote engine noises and...
Time to block off half the radiator with cardboard for winter driving. Still don't know why you didn't go with an aftermarket oil cooler if it was the oil temperature that was going into the yellow with hard driving.
What is the stock thermostat setting in that engine? Maybe it's defective...
Doubt it, because if it was piston slap it wouldn't suddenly appear with a fresh oil change, and it would be worse when cold instead of when hot. I'd believe excessive rod side clearance over any other theory. The tick seems to be dependent on the friction level between certain moving parts...
Not sure, but I don't thinks so. Call to the dealer service department to have them run the VIN for any warranty work will say for sure. Wonder if it's possible the wrong one was put in at the factory? It would seem strange that someone would do it themself if the car was under warranty, but...
Call a Ford dealer and give them the VIN to see if a dealership tried a warranty repair for the issue ... maybe a dealership put the wrong module in the car. Their compurter system should be able to find any warranty work records no matter what dealership did a warranty repair.
If you go back some, I believe he was talking about oil temperature "getting into the yellow", not coolant temperature getting too high. Maybe FreePenguin can clarify. Sounds like he needs an oil cooler instead of a larger radiator.
Ford dealers were putting the Motorcraft XL-17 "friction modifier" additive in Coyotes for the BBQ tick back in the early days of the Coyote. Motorcraft XL-17 isn't made anymore however.
The cooling system thermostat will determine what temp the cooling system operates at, regardless of how much more effective the radiator is. A bigger radiator will ensure temps stay within the thermostat temperature if the engine is pushed harder. If you're not overheating with normal street...
That "H" mark on the windshield if to show where the windshield wiper blade should be parked when the wipers are installed. There's a separate mark for each wiper blade.
I ran the VIN on my 2015 on the NHSTA website and no air bag recall showed up. Only thing that comes up on mine is the door latch recall, so not sure what your dealership is finding in their system.
It's good to at least run the front window defrost setting in the winter time, which will exercise the A/C system - it's also used to dehumidify the cabin in that mode.
