Did your base on the strut on the driver's side twist when you closed the hood? I cannot get mine to stay straight, and some believe this is what's causing it to draw down tighter on that side.

I have the exact same problem. Very frustrating why some of us do and some don't with these hood struts. Gonna remove mine as well, go back to prop.

have you looked at the overlays from bemaro film? That might be easier for you then painting. Not sure if they have color you want

I called Steeda before buying. They advise no issues and have these installed on at least one of their own Mach 1s. Feel free to call and confirm though. Nice folks easy to get hold of
