As long as it doesn't leak, you should be fine.

    Vibrant resonators

Mine are welded in right after the X-pipe. I have Roush axle backs, but still stock cats/headers. They greatly reduced rasp, but it can still get raspy at high RPM levels.

So, has everyone made peace with the 2K rattle?

Planning for quality issues, especially within the warranty duration, is not a profitable business model. BMW has failures because they develop engines using advanced technologies and designs that are often not proven enough. In our case, it was an early DI system. Quality is just one aspect of...

So, has everyone made peace with the 2K rattle?

Well, I am talking specifically about our BMW, which comes with the N54. I can't speak to the long term reliability of other German built engines.

So, has everyone made peace with the 2K rattle?

Yeah, we are on the N54 platform, which is arguably one of the best inline 6 engines BMW has made. They still have lots of BMW problems though. We have M-Sport exhaust, deleted secondary cats, and short ram intake to help the engine sing.

So, has everyone made peace with the 2K rattle?

It's actually a brilliant piece of engineering, and mechanically logical as far as layout goes. Germans just often fail with endurance. Our Bimmer has like 41k miles, and it has had all injectors, coils, plugs, a charge pipe, and wheels replaced due to failure. If you aren't willing to turn a...

So, has everyone made peace with the 2K rattle?

To answer the OP, I haven't really made peace with it, but I do ignore it. The engineer in me wants real answers as to the root cause, but I am not invested enough to spend time troubleshooting. Mine started at around 1k miles, is worse when cold, tends to be much quieter with the A/C off, and...

So, has everyone made peace with the 2K rattle?

I own an early German DI car. It has no rattle like the mustang. You can hear the injectors tick at idle when modded (Intake+Cowl), but as you accelerate, you just hear a smooth engine. As much as I hate on our BMW for reliability, I have to admit that I6 TT is a much better sounding engine than...

New 6.8L V8 Engine Coming For Mustang in 2022?!

Just based on future emissions and fuel economy standards, it seems extremely unlikely this will go in a regular Mustang GT. I am betting on it being an engine option for some crossover "Mustang" and possibly something like the GT500.

    E85 gas mileage?

You get better fuel economy with more ethanol? Sounds off a bit. I am still averaging around 15mpg with 50/50 city/highway. I am pretty heavy on the throttle during the city portion though.

Ford Performance Tune for 2018+ GT

I have an MY18, built in Oct 17, and have had this issue since the first week I had the car. I don't think there is really a resolution. Probably just software issues between Sync and Apple.

Ford Performance Tune for 2018+ GT

I am probably going Sport Cup 2s after I melt the RE-71Rs down. I really don't want to go much wider, as I want to keep this 285 square setup for handling.

Ford Performance Tune for 2018+ GT

I already have dual rate Steeda springs and I am running RE-71R 285s on lighter/wider wheels. I still need to finish buying stop the hop components, but I haven't found hop to be much of an issue after new wheels/tires/springs.

Ford Performance Tune for 2018+ GT

Eh, I can't hear my intake over the sound of my exhaust. Going E85 pretty much made the car a different animal. Traction is really the only problem now. I just like to make fun of German cars, as I work for a German auto company and have a lot of experience fixing poor design issues. :)

Ford Performance Tune for 2018+ GT

My last company invented mmt. There has been an ongoing battle between OEMs and the manufacturer over whether mmt clogs catalysts. I believe it was GM that ran a test and saw discoloration in the cat due to mmt. They claimed it would buildup over time and eventually clog it. My company ran many...

Ford Performance Tune for 2018+ GT

The seals in this engine are perfectly fine for E85. You are thinking of older engines, back when the seal material was not correct for the solvency of alcohols. I have worked in the fuels industry and in fuel system development. The only things people need to worry about with E85, is long term...

Ford Performance Tune for 2018+ GT

If something happens to your car, and they find leaded race gas in your tank, you run a greater risk of warranty rejection than if they found a little extra ethanol.

91 octane with 10% ethanol vs. 91 octane pure gas

You must get over 30mpg normally, or that wouldn't make much sense.
