  1. Ford Performance Tune for 2018+ GT

Ford Performance states that an ASE tech should install it. That's probably to avoid calls from people that consider this job hard. What did you expect, plug and play? A drop-in air filter? We have over a 100 pages of conversation about this kit. I don't know anyone's standards for difficulty...
  2. How safe are these cars against catalytic converter theft?

You think so, until someone false accuses you of some nonsense. Or some cop gets a hard on for you. These pesky rights aren't for the protection of junkies. They are for you. The downside to a rights-preserving legal system is some tolerance of petty crimes. But then again, in countries without...
  3. ***Urgent*** Check Clutch Line At Brake Master Cylinder

I deleted that post, no reason to throw shade on Steeda, without evidence. Oddball brake fluid contamination occurs on many cars, I checked. must have been lucky not to encounter it earlier. Brakes and clutch feel fine. I'll flush and not worry about it.
  4. Ford Performance Tune for 2018+ GT

My Excel is smart enough to recognize a CSV file and generates a pretty, huge, spreadsheet. When you open in Excel be sure to specify CSV. I was prompted. The stock Ford software also sometimes hangs for a minute on large log files. But if it's just datalogging you want there are other ways...
  5. What's your Fuel Mileage on 2018-2021 Gt's 5.0 with 10 sp or Standards

This guy crossed the US in about 26 hours, averaged 108 MPH, and got 12 MPG: https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/a32917037/a-man-drove-solo-across-america-in-25-hours-55-minutes-in-a-rental-mustang/ He installed extra fuel tanks. He also claims the top end was 159.
  6. Another Ford Quality Example

You have hit the mark. A going-over for cosmetics is not too expensive, if you care, and then you still have a performance bargain.
  7. What's your Fuel Mileage on 2018-2021 Gt's 5.0 with 10 sp or Standards

3 year lifetime MPG, I log EVERY fill up, and I'm fun at parties, 12.32 MPG. I'm having a lot of fun.
  8. Ford Performance Tune for 2018+ GT

I chalked the air box rubber, closed the hood and here's the location. They missed the vent. Decent seal anyway. The air comes in behind the grille just fine, don't really need the vent. Only gap seems to be at that push pin. The red circle is where the relocated vacuum elbow presses and puts...
  9. Ford Performance Tune for 2018+ GT

I'll mention a couple of things for thought. I noticed the new filter end is stamped with "DOWN." Why? Anyone also notice the new throttle body has part number KR3E-9F991-AB stamped on the side when the kit states M-9926-M50B? MY BULLSHIT OPINIONS BELOW I've had many cars with 400+hp...
  10. It's happened, the famous OEM lug nut fail...

I wish I made anything glorious. Nope. The posts 61 and 62 above mine really won the thread. Getting weird in here. I'm gone.
  11. It's happened, the famous OEM lug nut fail...

You know, I wish Ford just installed a decent quality lug nut in the first damn place and threads like this weren't necessary. I just spent over fifty bucks and more time than I wanted on this. Maybe it helps others. I mean look at the pictures of the failed lugs. Someone at Ford should lose...
  12. It's happened, the famous OEM lug nut fail...

Funny, after this conversation I checked my lugs and sure enough one of the front lugs was swollen, and I needed a 21mm to remove it instead of 13/16. Maybe it'll swell up more so that won't even fit? Time to replace them before a flat some rainy night. These wheels have only been off once, by...
  13. Wide open throttle

A mysterious rattle, a lot of us have one. I've been with service managers in new Mustangs that have them. These are not quiet cars. Some kind of code scanner is not a bad idea. You'll use it again and again. You should have no codes stored. But let me ask you, is it at a particular RPM or at...
  14. A little story about cooling and grill shutters. Really I just wanted to remove the bumper again!

I removed my shutters on my 2018 GT, only keeping the little motor (actuator) that opens and closes them connected to the harness and zip-tied out of the way behind the steel bumper beam. See I was installing a license plate holder and tow-hook. So anyway, my dumb ass threw the whole assembly...
  15. Ford Performance Tune for 2018+ GT

Agree. I also would have liked the 91+ octane calibration without the CAI, since I also like the stock airbox. But you can't have everything. I think nobody has any regrets I could see. Some minor issues. It isn't a monster change in power, more in character, since the tune is ultimately pretty...
  16. Oil Level low! Do I need to worry?

I was noticing that Jay Leno owns a lot of Italian stuff, V12s, etc. and has engine builders and parts fabricators on staff. His YouTube show is excellent by the way. He is of the opinion that you warm up the car enough to get the "needles off the pegs" before shenanigans. Our cars, being way...
  17. GT500 & Mach-E On Track @ Sonoma Raceway

The future is going to be interesting. I'd love to see lap times by sector. I know powerful, heavy AWD cars handle quite different, but some other high HP trucks (Trackhawks, X5, etc) have the capacity to surprise. I'm thinking of CD Lightning Lap. And of course eventually a proper EV Mustang...
  18. Very low low-end torque/power

My 2018 procedure: Press the button to turn off TC. Rev to 4,000, just to be sure. Let out the clutch. Floor it. Hold redline for a hundred feet, or until the rear steps out. Look at the stripes and smoke cloud in the rear view. Leave before someone calls the cops. If you can't do this, I blame...
  19. Ford Performance Tune for 2018+ GT

I have a rattle at 2k that sounds a lot like ping. Just make sure it really is ping, since these cars have a noise that can fool you. The easy way to know is that ping occurs under load, not at idle. Good luck. I want this kit and am reading this thread closely.
