I've met StangMode personally and he's a very nice guy and happy to talk with any fellow enthusiast. While I can understand the dislike for the YouTube business model I respect him for making something of it. Nobody is forcing any of you to watch.
I used the USB method and updated my GT500, Explorer ST and wife's Aviator with no problem. Each one took about a half hour. If you have a quality USB 3.0 or 3.1 drive that's at least 8GB and follow the instructions on the Ford website it should work.
Yes I dropped a battery cover pin into the space between the fender and the strut tower. With some luck, I spotted the pin way down the cavity. 45 minutes later, a wad of duck tape placed on a stick snagged the pin and up it came. These plastic fasteners drive me nuts!
In reality Ford will always try to make the owner prove the modification didn't cause the failure even when they know better that it didn't. The dealer depending on their relationship with Ford might have more preapproval leeway on repairs or concerned about audit because of pushing...
I checked my October 2020 GT500 build today using my friend’s borescope and it looks to be ok per Ford’s document. The VIN was marked in Ford’s system as potentially impacted so I’m relieved. I’ll eventually go to the dealer at some point so Ford is officially notified it’s ok.
Signed it on Monday evening and as you know it was sent to my elected officials. I rec'd an e-mail from one of the politicians and was pleasantly surprised to see it was an automated "do-not-reply" e-mail haha.
The GT500 takes priority over all other Mustang builds. They will build every single one planned unless there is a GT500 specific parts shortage. Of course some dealers will use the news of plant shutdowns or production delays to justify ADMs.
I like that the GT350 Track Attack actually covered in depth the details needed for someone looking to go to an actual HPDE where the GT500 classroom time was more about what was needed to just get through that day. I wish you had the option to stay on the ROVAL all day.
It sounds like Signature Wheels is developing a touch up paint program which would be welcome. Finding proper touch up paint for wheels, including OEM is near impossible on a lot of cars. Do we even have touch up paint for the standard GT500 wheels yet?
I went to the GT500 Track Attack on 4/2/21 and it definitely is a more controlled experience than the GT350 Track Attack was when I went a few years ago in Utah. They let us run as a group without the instructor at the GT350 event so I was also disappointed it was lead follow the entire time...
If you want to do over 182 MPH get a tune to remove the limiter. I understand that stinks for the handful of people that might want to do top speed runs bone stock but it is what it is. Clearly the car can go faster with nothing more than the governor removed. Trust me I wish Ford would have...
