For a project like this to get off the ground, there would have to be a replica of the multimatic unit. I can say that I'm not interested in something that doesn't look and perform like the real thing.
Yes, a body shop would have no issue with it. You wouldn't either. You go to your local auto paint shop and ask for ebony black and paint. Do several coats and then do a coat or two of clear. Wetsand/polish from 2000 grit up to 4000 and then use a liquid polish and you are set.
