I just noticed that you mentioned your engine that was replaced had no soot and the new one which doesn't burn oil has a stupid amount. So does that mean the soot is not necessarily an indicator of oil. consumption?

Maybe I should consider extending the powertrain warranty as mine is up in the next year.

I have 31,500 miles now. I have black soot on the two inside tailpipes after nearly every prolonged drive. Don't know if it matters regarding the soot but I have the resonator delete. Thanks!

Why would removing the catch cans matter as long as you can account for the amount of oil in the can? If it's like mine there's maybe an ounce or two of oil every thousand miles or so.
