Thanks Escosie, I will try to observe and see if that is a likely reason, I think you may be right! The locations it has happened in may well be speed camera locations. Anyone else concur?

Glitchy is the word! I have similar issues. Tried all of suggestions below, not sure which one works! Leave USB plugged in and then connect phone. I changed the lead and that seemed to help. It always seems to work next time I use it! but a brief engine switch off does not always work.
