285/35/19 is a smidge less sidewall, but I don't think the eye would notice it. So technically it is weird to put a smaller sidewall on the rear

Technically, yes... but it is only 2.25mm (.08") difference. I agree... it would be hard to measure, let alone see it.

I'm pretty sure that is a common tire setup for use with 19X10 rear and 19X9 front wheels.
