You had to be early and yeah, you likely had to have some pre-existing relationship with your dealer and/or be a big spender.
The better question is whether there will be enough R units made for the markups to melt away eventually or will this be the status quo during the 350's entire run. (Everybody has their own personal beliefs/speculation on that.)
Many of the 50 Track Pack and 50 Tech Pack cars for 2015 fall under the same scenario with Ford getting the first right to purchase these vehicles back at the original purchase price. The run of 37 '15 R's were pre-anointed, yes. At least 15 of the cars can't be resold for three years. Don't think any of those cars will do anything but appreciate as they will be used sparingly if at all.
The dealer I work for just sold/delivered 2015 GT350R #37 for MSRP to a customer who is very well connected at Ford Motor Company. We were very excited to have such a rare car entrusted to us.Likely not possible right now and likely not possible for your average buyer. Im guessing most who got them at MSRP had long standing relationships with their dealer and/or ford.
I wouldn't get too excited about the '15 my friend. That might be something of interest to a small number of people right now but in 5 or 10 years it won't mean crap. The same has gone for all the pace cars, anniversary editions of this and that, forget about it.The dealer I work for just sold/delivered 2015 GT350R #37 for MSRP to a customer who is very well connected at Ford Motor Company.
