Went with a retro theme. In '65 the 289 was all black with gold valve covers and air breather. Thought I would go with that since it is the 50th anniv. car.
Besides, the gold looks great against the DIB!
It's hard to see in the photo, but the intake cover has the "COYOTE" inserts I got off eBay.

Looks good, I would paint the top of that intake to get the gray out of there. Maybe black to have it blend in with the cover?

Like I said brother, looking sharp!!! But i think that last little touch would put her over the top. Personally I would paint the top of the intake gold.

Wow! Looks great and great idea going with the gold. Doing mine in body color, Guard Green, once paint comes in.

This really makes me wish I was talented enough to paint.

And I realize the colors are classic mustang but I can't say I'm a fan. Saying that, what you did looks amazing! Mucho props!

What paint did you use? I'd like to do this to mine.
Duplicolor ceramic engine enamel, Universal Gold. It's damned close to a perfect match for the '65 gold. But I did lay down many, many coats of primer and wet sanding after a good build up and then more primer and wet sanding. The textured finish his tough to fill, and even tougher to try and sand smooth.

This really makes me wish I was talented enough to paint.

Understandable brother! That's what makes the Mustang hobby so great. Black wheels, bright wheels. Black out chrome, bright chrome. Stripes, no stripes!

Thanks! I think I may pick up a set of covers to leave my stock covers just in case.
