Just curious - is the steering wheel paddle shifter placement good on the EB w/ auto trans?

I know some steering wheel paddles on other Makes/Models are not in optimum positions for some driving enthusiasts and was just wondering how Ford did with it on the new Mustang.

Positioning is pretty good, and the responsiveness is great. Specially in "S" mode. However, the paddles can be largely improved. I'm really hoping a vendor comes up with aluminium or similar paddles, which are a bit larger and more robust.

As-is, when blasting through gears it's sometimes hard to find them due to their small size.

I like them a lot better than the button that was on the 13-14, the position is perfect. Though if you are turning they are hard to use of course, and they feel sort of cheap but have great feedback when pressed. Like neodark said the aftermarket for these will be super interesting.

Position is ok. I hit them on accident a couple times at first. Not so much lately. However, I with they where on the column and not the wheel. When the wheel is turned, they are in differnt places and you can't naturally find them.

The positioning is good. I had magnesium shifters in my last car and sortof miss the feel of those. The Mustangs are very responsive but they feel sortof cheap.

Good spot, good feedback, minimal lag. Like em a lot.

That said, I'll be on the lookout for longer aluminum paddles in future whichll make em even better.

So was it a lancer or an evo? I remember how often they'd advertise those magnesium paddles as a feature.

^ pretty much sums up my thoughts as well. It can be awkward at times.

I think the premium packages should have had upgraded paddles. They are plastic, but in good position just a little on the smallish side. They could have put some nice polished pieces there IMO.

Paddles feel a bit small. Saddened that they are column mounted and not wheel mounted. Makes windy roads a bit sketchy.

Well, you don't buy the auto for windy roads, it has other plusses.

Actually (this coming from an old manual only driver, this my first auto mustang and I wrestled with it)) the paddles do suffice. They aren't perfect for winding roads but definitely make do better than I though they would. Being wheel mounted isn't ideal, but it's not very often at all that you have the wheel turned far enough for them to be on opposite sides (at least in my area). They aren't ideal, but they are close enough that I haven't yet (since nov 7) missed the manual.
