but do they survive lapping? The problem with A052 and RE71 is they are one-lap heros and go off really fast. Or can only be lapped in wet conditions
It's all about what you're looking for in a tire. If you want to drive 100% for a full 20 minutes or more, then no those will not be the best choice. The Nitto NT01 is still king of HPDE tires in my opinion. A more modern option is also the Continental Extreme Force. Both will be a couple seconds off the pace of the tires mentioned earlier.

really like my Hankook RS-4's as dual purpose street/HPDE so far. works well in the wet, reasonably comfortable on the street (with expectations level set of course), great on track and great reputation on wear.

My track car is a 2020 Mustang PP1 GT A10 -2.7 camber with Steeda springs on factory magnaride.

I noticed your 18x11’s are on sale (when does sale end?) and have a set in my cart right now - but still not sure on tires.

I currently run your SM10’s in 19x10 squared with 285/35/19 GoodYear SuperCar3’s on 20min HPDE sessions. I came from stock PS4S’s and this new setup was a huge improvement.

I’m looking for more grip/tire.

I just ordered extended front studs to run 11” wide squared. I still need to source/order spacers.

I’m finding it difficult to choose between your 18x11 and 19x11 wheel choice due to tire selections. I want to go wider than my 285’s.

What’s your recommendation on wheels/tires for appx 15-20 or so track days a year - not competing. Don’t really have a budget (but also don’t need $6K forged wheels) and more concerned with dropping my lap times than cost of tires throughout the year. I run in the advanced classes now, but not sure I’m ready for a Hoosier.
Will always be dry weather, 2 mile courses with 130-150mph on back and front straights 11-16 turns.

Appreciate any input.

Thanks!!

Edited to add- I see your NT01 recommendation about. It looks like in 18”there is a 305 but it’s 30 series (too small of a diameter) and the 19” is a 325, so too wide.
Guessing this tire wouldn’t work for an 11” application.

Sc3 doesn't come wide in 18. But if you want slicks best selection is 18 as wide as 320.

I’m just a tad scared to run slicks. Not sure I’m that advanced yet.

Hi, thanks for providing good info on the setup. The sale ends at the end of this month. How many sets of tires do you want to purchase each year? If it's just one set, the NT01 or Conti Extreme Force will be the closest. I don't think any tire can last 15 days of track use on a Mustang while not driving slowly out there.

For 18" wheels, 315/30-18 an ideal size. If you feel it's too short, then you'll have to go with 19" wheels/tires and 305/30-19. Nitto does make a 305/35-18, but they are one of the few who do.

Oh yeah, I know I’ll need multiple sets of tires a year. I have a spare set of SC GY3’s right now in the 285/35/19 I’m running. I’ll burn through my current set, then my spare set - then go 305’s.
I’m debating on 19’s so I can run the Cup2’s in 305/35/19 which I think is stock for the GT350 rear.

So I’m looking for a tire similar to the SC3, and Cup2’s.

Sounds like the NT01 might be it in the 18” size then?

What’s your take on 18” and running the NT01 vs going 19” and running the Cup2’s?
I’m leaning towards the 19” and Cup2’s

It looks like the bronze color I wanted isn’t on sale in the 19” dangit 😑
Is there any type of code I use when ordering so Mustang6g gets the cred?
Thanks!

man, I remember when those wheels were 380. I would go 18". Cup2 don't last long and only reason to run them is if you're scoring them take-offs cheap.

What tire would I run in 18”?
The NT01 seems to be less superior than the Cup2.
I would prefer one that I could drive to the track.

Edited to add: Wow - I just checked the 315/30/18 sizes and there are a ton of tire choices!

Forget Cup 2's
They're slower, wear faster, and cost twice as much as Supercar 3R's.
I kid you not, the only people I know who use Cup 2's are those who think they are the best because that's what the car came with from the factory.

The only tire you should ever buy for $500 is a Hoosier.

For lapping or practice: RS4, NT01, RR, V730, Rival S 1.5, ECF, Supercar 3, CR-S
For chasing lap times: A7 > Supercar 3R > A052 > RT660

No code needed for forum credit. And 19x11 SM-10 wheels were never $380 retail, maybe an intro sale price but they came out 4 years ago and were around $450-475 retail back when costs were normal. If things ever go back to that, we will lower retail prices. We've done it before.

Cup2 and NT01 are completely different tires for different purposes, see below.

I agree with all of this, except I'd bunch the CR-S with the chasing lap time group, just ahead of the RT660. I love the RT660 and run it on my Corvette, but it's just a few tenths behind the CR-S in ultimate pace. They're close though. Hoosier R7 is another good choice if you want 3R level lap times but better heat tolerance. For many people in TT, the 40TW vs 100TW puts it in different classes/points so keep that in mind.

Been running the squared GoodYear SuperCar3’s on roadcourse, as recommended by many on this board. So far, so good. Plan on trying the Cup2’s next.
Hi would love more input on your SuperCar3's. I'm running the PS4's that came with the GT but one or two more track days and they're done. The SuperCars look like a decent option and better price for track.

Aren't they out of stock everywhere?
