All insurance companies suck. They spend money of silly commercials with lizards, weird women with too much eye shadow, annoying millennials, cavemen and other things, rather than actually fix things with OEM parts

The Lizard was pretty good to me when my Corvette was caught in Superstorm Sandy. They were more than generous.

Where’s the Caveman? One day maybe Jamie will snap and slap Flo upside the head when she berates and makes him a fool once again, or the Caveman kills and eats the lizard. Now that’s a commercial

If anyone remembers a few months back i crashed my GT350R. I recently got the car completely finished. At first the car was done in mid June but when i went to change the wheels/tires i noticed A LOT of damage on the three brake calipers that weren't replaced so after a bit of back and forth between my body shop and insurance (3 weeks worth) they finally replaced the remaining calipers which added an extra $1300 to the estimate. This was the highest repair my body shop has ever done and we were both surprised All State decided to do the repair with an original estimate of 41k. They told me at 44k the car would be totaled which as you can see went well beyond that figure. I am happy its fixed but at the same time if it were to have been totaled i would have made profit of about 1500 with what they would have paid me for the car after deductible. Here was the total when done before the remaining calipers were also replaced for 1300 and change. I also added all the part numbers and the cost for each one.

I also kept most of the parts that came off the car I currently have all 4 brake calipers, The full cat back exaust, both of the broken wheels, and also some useless stuff im going to throw away like the fender and gas tank. The calipers had a deductible of $50 each and everything else was free to keep. Also the exaust is in amazing condition it just has a minor dent on it the size of a couple quarters.

Wow, that's a number. And your shop has interesting part prices. I just checked a couple of them against one of the bigger Ford dealers with an online shop and there the prices are 30-50% lower.

And your car looks very nice again :like:

just because they quoted MSRP to the insurance CO doesn't mean the cost to the shop was MSRP.

Do you have the exhaust hangers for the rear by the differential on your old exhaust? The closeout panel connects to them.

This is why agreed value is important for insurance. If they decided to total it and give you a $44k check you are not getting into another R without another almost $20k out of pocket for a used one!

If the car were to be totaled they would have cut me a check for over 71k not 44k. They pay you for what the car is worth not the repair bill.

What are you running now? I just had a scary ride home yesterday (mid 50's with a drizzle) and need to do something! I plan to daily this thing for 3 seasons. Was looking at the A/S3+ or new Pilot sport all season 4.

Also - did you keep or sell the OE tires? (trying to figure out the best way to sell mine if/when I swap them out)

I went with Nitto 555 305/35/19 on all four. They seem pretty good in the rain. i have had them in 55 degree weather with no problems. This size will rub at full lock so be careful. I went with them because they allow me to not bottom out on my driveway and at many other places i was having trouble with last year.
