Faskback or Coupe - Which body style should the next Mustang be?

Should they make the next Mustang a Coupe or a Fastback? Both? Explain.

The first generation of Mustang came out in a coupe and a fastback style. These are from 1967.

Do you think the next Mustang should be a Coupe or a Fastback?

I think they should do the Fastback and the Coupe, along with the convertible something like the Audi S5. The coupe and convertible should share the same roof profile.

I voted both, simply because it would be neat to have the option of a notchback and to see what a modern Mustang would look like as a well done notchback. That said, if I had to choose only one, it would be the fastback hands down. It looks too good to be completely replaced by a notchback.

Given the choice.........fastback every time. Whilst I appreciate the more formal coupe roof would make the back seat more usable (the Challenger scores greatly here), the fastback look is just too important to me.

The S550 fastback looks superb. To me, it's the equivalent of the '67/'68 Fastback roofline, whereas the S197 was more the '65/'66 Fastback roofline.

This quote regarding S650 is from a member of BlueOvalForums who is a Ford employee and posts good, solid information.

"I’ve seen a sketch. I will say the roofline drops 1 inch to make it even more swept back. It will be gorgeous I can assure you"

Where would you put the Fox body? Coupe or fastback? To me, it is more coupe. Not enough length and too long a trunk to call it a fastback. The rear window ends at about the same place over the rear wheel as does the 60's coupe.

Why? do these coupes really look bad? The early coupe is the most sold body of any style Mustang at over 500,000 sold. That should count for something.

The one thing the coupe style does is it makes it look less like a backseat is there and after all, a real sports car do not have a back seat (nor top for that matter but the def of a sports car is another thread)

Also, if aerodynamic looks mattered to the general public, how do you explain the SUV? Big draggy box on high wheels. Aerodynamics never was a thought.
