So I'm in the market for a new Mustang, and the Shelby 350 has really caught my eye. However, I'm not sure of what is all out there that I should also consider in the GT area. I'm looking for a manual, with at least 500 hp, Mag-ride. Is the Shelby tax worth it?

The 350 doesn't feel like 500 hp because it doesn't have a lot of low-end torque. If you wind the piss out of it, it starts to wake up and feels more like 500 hp. I don't know for sure, since I haven't tried, but I think it would be more at home on a track.

If you test drive a GT350, you will by nothing else...it is vehicular crack... it should be illegal...!!!!!

Interesting set of requirements.

GT - 460HP MANUAL MagneRide
BULLITT - 480HP MANUAL MagneRide
GT350 - 525HP MANUAL MagneRide
GT500 - 760HP DCT MagneRide

So, I think we have a winner.

But they are so many more variables and you gave us so little information. That said, if these are your only requirements you have your answer. As far as the gas guzzler tax, you want to play, then you have to pay.

Save the Shelby money and put a blower on a GT. Now we just need a convertible owner and an Ecoboost owner to chime in.

Plus one on this... lots of for dealers do the conversion and include it in the price of the car Richmond Ford, Lebanon Ford and more.

Not knocking gt350 or gt500....awesome cars ? What is your budget?

Budget is 50k-ish....I'm looking for something that is going to put a smile on my face everytime...I drove a demon and the power was limitless but the suspension left a lot to be desired, i liked the 997 911 but I'm afraid im going to get bored with the power too quickly. Vettes are ok but i kinda need a back seat.. I'm coming from mostly German, e39 M5 and audi RS avant. I live a hour from VIR so I am hoping for a couple of track days. I tested a Shelby 350 and really liked it. To be honest I really just don't know enough about the rest of the mustang family.

Interesting twist... looks like a Chick-fil-Ale beside your creation.
I think you are on the something my friend...!!!!!

Well, if you want new, forget a GT350. Even with huge discounts, you're not going to find one in the 50s unless you go used. Sounds like you're a candidate for the Mach1; closest thing to a GT350, including the Tremec 3160... but unlikely to find one at MSRP. Next in line would be a relatively cheap (compared to MSRP) leftover Bullitt, like many of us bought. Good luck.

Decisions decisions and sounds like your previous rides are very nice and like you just a few years ago I came to the Mustang side. And I presently own the Hellcats and have owned them for years as well as other nice performance cars. The GT Mustang actually created my initial interest back in 2018 with the new 10speed auto. To the point I went to the dealer to purchase a 2018 GT PP1 10speed auto with Magneride. And of course the day I go their there is a freshly used GT350 sitting in the show room. All the sales people are saying oh you have to buy that one over the GT and sure enough I buy her to only trade her back in 6 months later for a 2019 GT PP1 Magneride. The GT350 is a TRACK CAR the VODOO Motor is a RACE MOTOR. She has to be driving like you are racing her to get the power out the motor. She’s a high reving motor that needs 4500 plus rpms to come to life. No hate here just the facts and yes she’s bad ass car. I now own three Mustangs: Bullitt, GT500 and the GT. The Bang for your buck the GT PP1 with Magneride is the best way to go IMO. And I prefer the 10 speed auto over my manual Bullitt. Ford did a lousy job on the gearing with the manual and she is slow. With the list of cars you have driven not sure the GT will have the power you want unless you SUPERCHARGE her and the Coyote Motor is bullet proof to the 700-800 HP range. That’s the only thing missing on mine is the extra power that my other cars have. Once your exposed to the 700 plus HP range anything less will have you wishing for more. And here’s some of my cars

That might be true for a PP1, PP2 gear is 3:70 ........ 6sp * Hole lot more gong on at the GT PP2 level. Dare I say it's a 350 without the voodoo & drive train coolers.
