I'm going to look at the flag that hangs in front of my house, every single day of the year and yet again be proud of my country.

I do not want to turn it communist, Marxist, leftist, or any other form of hate-filled socialist. I'm not in the least bit ashamed to have served in the military or to have defended my country overseas. I'm going to thank God I can still own property, I can legally marry a woman while being a man and I can choose to ignore the addle brained idiots at the weed store even though they get dumber and more communist with every toke.

I'm going to hope Americans vote for Republicans for every elected position in the nation and they we can defeat the horrible Marxists and Maoist communists the Democrats are running and get four more years of freedom. And grill some steaks, since it is still legal to eat beef. No estrogen patties for my family, thank you.

I pulled my flag when Obismull, was elected, did not fly it for 8 years. New president, new flag went back up morning after the election.

Flags were flying (pun) off the store shelves. Hope to have the need to buy a new one this time around.

Worst thing to happen to this nation, dumping the draft. For a whole lot of reasons.

Would agree if conscription had actually been universal rather than being based on a lottery system that allowed exemptions for just about everything...especially for those who had means and/or were well connected. In short, citizenship should be earned through service.

All that aside, Happy Independence Day.

Money talks the rest of us walk. Volunteered, cause it was a natural path to man hood.

Too many crybabies all worried about the other guy. So we have what we have today a big fking mess. Trying to accommodate or fix something that has been going forever.

Life ain't fair get over it, one has to make their own way. And will actually be more satisfied with life in general. And a much better person, inside and out.

Instead of kissing up and
owing others favors, that can never get paid back.

No lottery when I was of age, all that aside. Happy Independence Day to you also.

Not sure what all that means. Volunteered as well, but it's not about me, now is it? We should all be trying to fix and improve that which is in need of fixing and improving--just like we do with our cars.

Registering for selective service (which I never did and never will) is not the same as the draft. Our draft was always based on a lottery system--even the conscription act of 1940, which governed the draft during the Second World War. During VN in particular, those with means managed to "dodge" it, while those without means served. Given the system, ending the draft had a positive effect on the system.
