Hey Guys

In this video i document the servicing of the Roush Cold Air Intake Filter. This is a reusable filter which can be cleaned, dried and reinstalled and should not be oiled. I know quite a few guys in the UK have gone for this setup so i thought i would edit the footage together.

I would guess that the 2018 to 2020 model year as well as the Ecoboost and supercharger filters from Roush would also follow the same advice but please check for yourself by getting in contact with Roush. If someone knows this for sure, let me know and ill update the information here.

The instructions provided for this were to clean the filter using Simple Green or Formula 409. This video is for educational purposes only and is not endorsed by Roush or any other mentioned brands. Please Like, Share and Subscribe!

That's definitely an option but the filter is designed to be washable multiple times.

Not everyone is gifted with the ability or confidence to turn their own wrench but would like to be able to.

We don't have simple green in the UK. What could we use as an alternative?

I used Muc-Off 500ml concentrated degreaser / bike cleaner
https://muc-off.com/collections/top...os=1&_sid=e9c63133b&_ss=r&variant=23272418119
diluted in a bucket of warm water. Soaked for approx 2 hrs. Washed with fresh water to remove most of the bugs and dirt. Then I did another 2 hrs in a clean bucket of diluted degreaser, followed by hose pipe inside and out.
Once air dried and checked MANY times for any sign of dirt, I covered the outside in K&N filter oiling spray as it was cheaply available in the UK https://www.24mx.co.uk/motocross-ac...l_pid-99-0516EU?nosto=is-pdp-brand-cross-sale.

for reference I used 250ml of degreaser concentrate in each bucket.

For reference only use this procedure on washable filters designed by the manufacturer to be cleaned and oiled.

Roush EXPLICITLY say not to oil the filter.

Good point well made. Only use this cleaning technique on filters designed to be cleaned. Works wonders on my steeda gt500 filter

I would urge people to only do it the way Roush have recommended. If the filter loses its integrity and has parts of it sucked into the cylinders under load, it could be very expensive.

If a different aftermarket filter is being used, please follow the manufacturer advise.

my old MR2 turbo I treated air filters as yearly service parts, as you say not worth the risk it collapsing and being sucked into the engine. Bad jojo

I think as long as the instructions are followed, the risk doesn't exist. The filter has a black wire mesh around it as well.

They key is just to follow the manufacturer instruction. Roush produce OEM quality parts so I would trust their filters to be reuseable
