Right now I have the pp1 3:55s and traction is an issue. I know guys are going to 3:15s. What differential after you buying? Where are you getting them? Also anyone drop down to 3:31 and keep the Torsen dif? Any noticable difference? Thanks

I picked up a 3.15 diff locally. But there's plenty online. 3.15s will help keep you out of 7th which should help extend the life of the clutches.

Still running the 3.55 gear with no issues. Running consistently 9.7's on 10 psi of boost with 70 1/4 mile passes so far with the Whipple. 196 total 1/4 miles passes.

Yes I'm happy with it at the strip, but on the street peddling the car until 80mph is getting old

What tire are you running, any suspension upgrade? I have no issues on the street, using the M/T ET Street R 315/50R17 running 16 psi, hooks great on the street.

Lowered on bmr sp083 springs. Front and back lock outs, and end links. 325/30/19 4s most of the time. 305/45/17 et Rs track and some street. That tall tire is helping you. I don't think I can get those to fit

Thanks Logan. Did you guys start with a pp1 car? I'm just hate to spend $ only to go from a TQ based dif with the upgraded housing to Trac loc rear if 3:31 would be "good enough" for a couple of hundred $

Yes, our car is a PP1 with Magnaride.

I have had all 3 .
Started with the 3.55/PPI and MY car did not like that gear .
Swapped in a 3.31 with iron housing out a manual car . It was previously on my KB car with MT82 and later Magnum XL(swapped to 4.10’s eventually)
It was definitely better than the 3.55’s and stayed out of 7th @144. I made multiple passes last year but it broke the spider gears first time out this year. I am fixing it and will keep it as a spare .

I had pulled down from last year and making more
Power but I am sure it was the wheel hop that did it in when I launched on my 305/35 19 MT SS tires (usually I am on 17 inch ET R’s ).

I swapped in junk yard 3.15 and have one outing with them . Definitely feels like the best gear . It’s in the lower gears longer and felt faster but I don’t have a direct comparison with the 3.31 at this power level .
Ran a 9.6@147 on shake down and 9.6@143 when I launched hard .. would have been a 9.3 on that pass but my fuel pressure dropped (clogged filter ) on the big end.
Unless you already have a 3.31 lying around like I did I would recommend the 3.15’s

I’ve been in the race game too long. Nobody’s going to tell you everything that’s been done. Especially when trying to set records.

Not doubting you or anything man but you must have a hell of tune to be running that fast on 10 psi .

My car is tuned by long time Mustang tuning legend Lidio Lacobelli. He talked to me about a Whipple E-85 set-up that he had thought about doing that could put some impressive numbers down, without beating the hell out of it. I told him hell yeah, let’s do it! I race every weekend and people are very impressed with the car. Thank you Lidio!!!!
Right now I’m happy were it’s at. Probably next year we will bump it up a good amount, but that’s when the cage goes in first.
