So I have had the car back for a couple weeks now and have about 700 miles on the new motor, clutch ( RXT HD 1200) and BC stage 3 transmission. I can tell you the PBD tune idles perfect and drives like a dream. I'm not sure how much the new trans and clutch have to do with it, but I'm extremely happy. Rob from PBD has done a great job so far. On the same in ground dynojet I made 776.60 whp and 572.01 ft lbs ( 23 degrees) with whipple tune, I made 717 whp and 553 ft lbs (19 degrees) with PBD. Rob gave me an additional tune for 22.5 degrees of timing, but we ran out of time on the dyno and I didn't get to run it.

I'm going to try to get to the track this weekend to see what it does MPH wise and will report back.

I run 93 octane with a bottle of either lucas oil octane booster or a boostane shot with each tank fill up. Peak boost with 3.625 pulley have been 13.1 psi.

My avg MPG with the DW 95lbs, JMS BAP, and PBD tune has been 16.3 with combined city/highway; which is up from about 13 with the prior whipple based tune.
why so much less hp with the PBD tune over whipple tune? timing difference?

Definitely due to less timing. From reviewing my HP tuners data log files, it appears each degree has been about 20-25 whp on my setup.. This would potentially put the PBD 22.5 degree tune in the 780- 800 whp based on what we were able to achieve with only 19 degrees.

I have the same setup as you OP, and I picked up 4-5 mph in the 1/4 going from Whipple's tune to a PBD tune. The Whipple tune had a TON of torque reduction on shifts and it was falling on its face on the 2-3 and 3-4 shifts.

Best so far of a 10.51 136. There is more in it, that was with a 1.7 60ft. and 3.15 gears

11.1 @130 on the whipple tune. and 3.55 gears. But it was falling on its face on the 2-3 and 3-4 shifts. data logged, sent to whipple, they said it was working as intended to save the transmission.

I have a 2017 Mustang Whipple Stage2 with the Whipple Tune and my shifts are soft also.
My best time as of today is 10.77ET 132MPH 1.63 Sixty Foot and if my car does not sell,I am going to get a AED Tune from Shaun.

Good tuner from what I hear. An aftermarket tune really woke my car up and made it fun to drive again. The whipple tune drove nice, but the shifts and added power from a different tune are night and day.

Are you running the Whipple Stage 2 kit, stock headers with factory cats?
How many revisions did it take PBD to get your after market tune the way you have it now?
That 10.51ET 136MPH are great times!

Yes stage 2 gen 2. 3.625 pulley, stock manifolds and cats. It took maybe 3 revisions, but at least 1 of those were for small preference type driving adjustments.

Did you use the Whipple Stage2 72# Injectors and factory fuel system for the PBD Tune?

Ya Shaun is a mad scientist on this platform. Great to work with and it performs amazing.
