Both are great tracks! Fun elevation changes and very technical.

They are so different. I actually love both tracks and once I learned Pitt I liked it even more. Pitt is longer and has more hills and valleys and the facilities are 2nd to none including the air conditioned meeting rooms and bathroom. Mid-Ohio has always been my favorite but that's because I've driven so many times. I can't wait to run the GT350R at Pitt now that I don't have a supercharger to get heat soak on the giant hill in the back.

Hey Rob, this is Jim. I'm Tom Schippel's friend with the 350R. we chatted at the drivers meeting. I'll be there on July 4th and 5th too.
Hey Jim. Great talking to you on Sunday. First two sessions was having issues with the throttle intermittently not working and adjustable clutch pedal bolt just about fell out.....race cars! Thankfully got it sorted out so salvaged a few sessions.
See ya at Pitt!

Yeah great talking to you too. I know you must’ve got things worked out so by the way you blew by me on the track when I gave you a point by.

Hmm, I was going to go to Pitt July 4-5, but signed up for VIR with Chin that weekend instead (saves some PTO). I’ll be there later in July with NASA and again in September for Carfest.

I was pondering a set of track day wheels with "R" sized tires for my 2019 GT350. Can you fit 305 fronts and 315 rears on stock offset GT350 wheels or do you have to change wheel sizes or offsets to get the tires to fit right?

I was going to stick with Cup 2's for the track day tire. Does this work?

Decided to pull the trigger on the Goodyear Supercar 3R just to try. TireRack has 2016 production discounted to $212 with Goodyear offering an additional $75 mail in rebate. Pricing was at a good point to at least try them.

@O-H-5-0 ; please let us know how those work. I am almost due for track tires; probably 2 sessions left and I need to make a decision what to buy next. Although SC2's are very tempting.. they work very well.

Yup, I did the same, I'll be running them this weekend. A guy was crushing it at last year's Mustang Roundup at Hastings Motorsports Park with the Goodyears, though he was also a very good driver.

My car is in the shop so I can’t take a photo but I can confirm the Porsche spec 102y fronts last MUCH MUCH longer than the 98y tire and are absolutely worth the extra $. I’ve done 3 days and my driver front looks like near new with tons of outside tread still... compare this to 3 similar day’s on the 98y here...

  1. Just finished my 4th track day (7 thirty min sessions today!) on the Porsche spec 102y fronts. I’m totally blown away how well it held up to the 98y. Compare this to my prior pic after only 3 days on 98y. Usually the 98y will chord for me after 4, and one time after 3 long days. I am confident the 102y will last 7 days to fully heat cycle out Without chording and without need to rotate! Maybe it’s not technically as fast with the larger grooves, and it is more $$, but It sure does hold up better.

  2. on a related note, this was my 7th day on the rear tires and they are now heat cycled out and quite greasy with a loose rear end.
