Quick question

Having seen photos before ordering it looked like the shaft fits through one of the holes in the grille. I suppose that is true, but now that I have received mine it appears to be such a tight fit that I would actually have to thread it in one of those holes.

Should I be concerned about flex breaking the plastic honeycomb when 1) being pulled from the hook, or 2) scraping the splitter on the ground pushing up on the bumper? It seems to me that a bit of the plastic should be cut around the shaft to give it 1/4" - 1/2" clearance.

That would be my plan, but I wanted to know if that's what you guys did. I wasn't even sure I received the right part at first til I went back and further scrutinized photos and saw that it looks like it is indeed a very tight fit.

It is very tight but I have a high slope driveway and always scrape my splitter going up and down the driveway. It hasn't cracked yet, fingers crossed.

yeah I don't recall how much i cut, but def clearanced it to fit nice. figured if it actually gets used it could flex and do more damage if it didn't have room to move a bit..

a new lower grill is only like $80 i think so not a big deal to cut it.

One person's experience, but never had to cut anything. Tight fit, but it fits. Scraping never affected it.

Had to cut my 19 to get their plate mount in. Super cheap for a replacement comb.

Don't cut it. Thread it through. The bracket is adjustable so that you don't have to cut the grill

I agree with Tom. I recently installed mine on my 2017 GT. Yes it's a super tight fit. But I think it looks good that way. And if the grill ends up breaking you can replace it. I don't think it will break very easily - it seems like quite tough material to me.

So I wouldn't cut the grill if I were you - unless you prefer the look of a cut-up grill.

Mine didn't break. I've thrown every dynamic at it to include top speed of the car. It probably would break if you have to hook it up to a wrecker at the track. But if that happens, I think you have bigger problems.

My 16 and 19 both had to be cut. We tried to wiggle it in :yawn::yawn::yawn: and then we messed with the plate....:giggle::giggle::giggle::giggle:

my 16 went in fine.... 19... little too much girth. Same tech did the work and called and said he couldn't do it, so they melted / cut it in a way that you really cant tell due to the license plate.
