Hello all, I just upgraded from the premium leather seats to the Recaros from the GT350R. Brand new and same year model so everything hooked up just fine, but now I have an airbag light. I checked again and they are tightly connected. Any idea why?

mad jelly of the seats!

Could be a few things - seat belt tensioners or most likely the passenger occupant sensor (OCS) - if you still have your old seats, try transferring the OCS over and retesting

I have read some of the other threads. Does anyone think it would be possible to swap some harness pieces from my leather auto seats or does it not work that way for these?

You need to take this to a dealer and have it scanned with a Ford scan tool. Not only will it tell you what's wrong but after having those harnesses disconnected you will have stored codes in the computer. Even if you weren't having an issue I would encourage you to do this for safety reasons.

Nice seats though, btw.

My friend and I used a snap on diagnostic tool to read it and I have attached that picture. It's fine, all we have to do is replace the whole occupancy sensor as mentioned. The airbags are working, the code reader noticed when I sat in it, but it's reading unoriginal equipment. We pulled up a schematic and can swap the whole assembly without disassembling the OCS pressure line.

My very knowledgeable friend swapped the entire OCS assemblies, put it back in the car, and all is well. Thanks so much for the help.

Did you do this for both seats? Where did you get them from? I’m suprised the code can’t be cleared and the car isn’t able to “sense” the presence of the airbags in the new seats. (I just installed GT350 Recaro’s and have the lights).

I believe there's only an OCS on the passenger since the car knows if you crank it up, there is obviously already a driver present so the driver airbag is mandatory. I bought them from someone who took them out of an R after 200 miles. I used the scan tool to clear the code but it needs the original passenger OCS to function properly. It's not a difficult task, just swap it from your old seat. It's just a bunch of plastic J clips and a few torx screws holding some plastic trim on.

The whole unit comes out once you get the bottom seat cover off and remove the sensor from the little bracket. You definitely want to leave it all assembled as far as the sensor goes though.

Would it be possible to tell us any more details on how to do this? I keep wanting to buy Recaros but that damn air bag light is keeping me from doing it.

Have any idea what the part number is? Might just pick up an extra and keep the originals intact. Trying a search with random words isn't working (of course).
